2nd Saturday on the Downtown Square

Art is alive and flourishing in McKinney, and guests to the downtown square on Saturday evening can meet the artists at the following exhibit openings.

Downtown McKinney Art Exhibit: Acclaimed Texas artist Jon Flaming has created a new series of paintings that focuses on the historic town of McKinney (shown above). Meet the artists at a reception from 6-8 p.m. Art will be on display at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee, through Aug. 23.

The LAST Art Gallery: The gallery welcomes 10 new artists that who joined the gallery in the past month. Several of the artists will be in attendance and Lynda Kingsley and Wayne Brinkman will be demonstrating and displaying in front of the gallery. 7-9 p.m. at 105 W. Louisiana.

​Orisons Art & Framing: Voting is taking place this week for Orisons 4th Annual Photography Contest. The winner will be announced during the reception, 7-10 p.m. 110 E. Louisiana.

Also on Second Saturday:
​​fILTER(ed) Live proudly presents 2nd Saturday Jazz! Live Jazz styles performed by local collegiate, professional and enthusiastic musicians in a comfortable and intimate setting. 7-10 p.m. at 218 E. Louisiana. (Discretional gratuity.)
 
 
 
 
(Saturday): Mitas Hill Vineyard & Winery hosts their annual harvest with a hands-on learning experience followed by food and celebration. Starts at 8 a.m. Reservations (for planning purposes) are requested to 972-316-7991 or by email. Visitors are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, a hat, and bug spray.
