This Week in Sunday School

Join us at 10:05am this Sunday beginning in the sanctuary.

In the beginning, after Jesus came back from death, he didn't come to everyone at once. Last week we learned that Jesus came to some people first and others later. Church has always been a place of experimentation and discovery, and the early believers were learning everyday together how to be good disciples just like we are, too. Come to Sunday School this week to hear how the early church followed Christ in their lives, and how this helps us discover new ways to grow in our faith.

ELCA National Youth Gathering

Planning for our youth group trip to Houston for the ELCA National Youth Gathering in summer 2018 has officially begun! This is an incredible, faith-building event bringing 30,000 Lutheran youth together for worship, learning, fun, and service alongside the residents of Houston. I hope many from Advent will be able to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I'll be in touch personally with each family that has a teen eligible to attend to discuss dates, travel, budget, fundraising, and answer all your questions. But for starters, you can learn a great deal by exploring the Gathering webpage.

Confirmation

Our final Confirmation class of the school year is this Saturday, May 6 from 9am-12pm here at Advent. To close year one of this Confirmation class, we are also planning for all Confirmation students to assist with 9am worship this Sunday, May 7.

We will run through all worship roles in class this Saturday so everyone will feel prepared. Please arrive at Advent at 8:30am this Sunday so we have time to get everyone in their robes and do a sound check. Looking forward to a great weekend of learning and leading!

Easter Breakfast Recipes

We've had a lot of people asking about our Easter Breakfast recipes since Easter Sunday, especially that mind-blowing french toast casserole. So here they are! We invite you to check out the recipes for the egg bake, ham and cheese breakfast casserole, and french toast casserole, and try them at home. Thanks again to Joan Eickemeyer for bringing us these awesome recipes. And thanks to all who donated to our youth ministry. We raised a total of $1213 for youth ministry at Advent!
