We are Fall-ing for you!
The fall season is upon us, and we have everything you need for decorating and cooking for the fall!
The field crew is just about finished picking pumpkins and has just brought all the Delicata, Amber Cup, Buttercup, Long Island Cheese, Acorn, Carnival, Sweet Dumpling, Blue Hubbard and Butternut squashes in from the fields.

And though the sun is setting so much earlier, we still have some wonderful flavors of the summer in the market.  This has been a banner year for watermelon, and we've
rolled back the price on it to .25/lb! 

Peppers and eggplant have all been harvested, and they are all in the market.

Field tomatoes should last until Columbus Day, and that's when the fall hothouse tomatoes should be just about ready to harvest.  
Cooler nights and days mean that the
farm-grown greens are simply perfect!

Alas, the rain, cool nights and early sunsets have returned. Fortunately, so have rich, deep autumn flavors to our welcoming palates. Time for soups, stews, braises, red wine and savory aged cheeses.
Our pick for this rainy first week of fall will comfort you like a warm blanket...


Chateau Yon, 1er Cru Saint-Emilion Bordeaux
Delicious value Bordeaux from the highly prized appellation of Saint-Emilion. Aromatic and elegant with an appealing nose, aromatic with hints of pepper, prune and black berry fruit. It is rich and long in the mouth with well integrated oak and silky tannins on the finish. While this wine would pair wonderfully with many types of aged and blue cheeses, we would like to recommend pairing it with one of our newer arrivals in the cheese department:

Red Leicester
is a traditional hard English cheese made from unpasteurised cow’s milk. The history of the cheese dates back to the 17th century when farmers recognized the need to make and look their cheeses apart from cheese made in other parts of the country. They decided that the color of the cheese should denote its richness and creaminess. To set it apart from cheddar and highlight the quality of cheese, Leicester is colored with a vegetable dye called annatto.
Our Red Leicester is in fact pasteurized and aged only a few short months, leaving the texture semi firm and delightfully creamy. Reminiscent of a young cheddar, Red Leicester is an excellent melting cheese. With its low price and wide appeal, it’s the perfect fall accompaniment to your sipping and snacking habit!
