5th Sunday Service Project
March 31
9:30am, Friends Hall

All ages are welcome to join us in Friends Hall to make "Happy Kits" for Children's Mercy Hospital. These kits are used in a variety of areas throughout the hospital and clinics to make patients and families feel welcome and happy during their visit.

Our greatest needs to make the kits are: Coloring books & Crayons.

There will be no Sunday School or Adult Ed on March 31 so we can all participate in this service project.
Summer Camp @ Tall Oaks
Early-bird Deadline is April 5!

The early bird registration deadline for Tall Oaks summer camps is Friday April 5th. After the deadline registration fees increase significantly. Online registration is quick and easy! Just go to Talloaks.org and click on the "Camps" button. You'll find detailed info for every camp, as well as the registration forms. Don't forget, Saint Andrew pays half of your registration fee! We know that camp's expensive, but we don't ever want that to prevent a child from experiencing these wonderful programs. Scholarships are available, just let us know and we'll make sure you're covered!
Search Committee Update

The Called Pastor Search Committee has been concentrating on ways to gain your feedback. Trust you saw the survey cards in the bulletins over the last several weeks and provided your comments. In addition, a bulletin board will be hung in the Hearth Room next to the stairs. This will hold updates on the search process as well as an area for you to write a note. We will also schedule a congregational meeting to gain additional insight. Please take advantage of the various options to provide your thoughts. The goal is for Saint Andrew to select a Called Pastor by the Fall.

Third Sunday in Lent

Scripture: Luke 15:1-3,11b-32

Jesus' story of what has been known as The Prodigal Son is among the most well-known and beloved parables Jesus told. Likely we've all heard it many times. Our challenge this Sunday, for both preacher and congregation, will be to hear the story with fresh ears -- to listen for a new word that God may be speaking to us. Maybe one way to prepare for that is to read through the story, and consider it from a different perspective. Story titles tend to guide our perception, and ultimately, the meaning we derive from the story. Rather than focus primarily on the younger "prodigal" son, perhaps we should focus on "The Loving Father," or "The Resentful Son." Or maybe you'll prefer "The Lost Sons," "The Welcoming Father," even "The Really Ticked-Off Older Brother." We'll gather Sunday with all our different perspectives and see where God may be leading us as we continue our Lenten journey.
See you Sunday,
Rev. Denise Dugan

Musicians this Sunday are:
Darin Seidel, Alex Waller, Lindsay Waller & Cindy Egger-Farris

Last week's sermon is available HERE.
Joys & Concerns
We ask God's blessing and comfort for those struggling with health issues and life's other difficulties. Please pray for Bonnie Burnside's 29 year old nephew, Cody, who has just been added to the list of people needing a kidney donation.

Pastor's Class is our baptism and confirmation class designed for 5th through 8th graders. We explore what it means to be a Christian, to belong to God, and to be a member of the Christian community. If your child has not been baptized, or was baptized as an infant, this class, in which they are paired with a mentor from our congregation, will give them the opportunity to consider their beliefs, doubts, questions, and passions. Baptisms and confirmations will take place on Sunday, June 2. Classes start April 24, but we need early registrations so we can begin our planning and recruitment of mentors. Please contact Rev. Denise Dugan if you have questions or to register for the class.

VBS will be June 10-14, 2019. We’re super excited about our theme – To Mars and Beyond! Watch for more information coming soon!
