Bartlett's Garden Center in all it's Glory
Beautiful new pots are now out in the garden center and boy, are they gorgeous! We are obsessed with these charming, grey-toned flower pots and planters. The best part? They are comparable in price to regular terra cotta! The smaller orbs below come in around 36 dollars.
Our imaginations run wild when we visit the planter display outside. Pictured above left; whimsical shell planters  beg to be planted with succulents, draping and heavy with blooms, and the bone white vase planters above are ready for a sun drenched porch a-wash in vividly colored begonias or bougainvillea. Pictured below left, our new Grey Pots collection...just gorgeous! Below to the right are Hilary's very limited selection of vase fountains...beautifully slender, brightly glazed vase fountains are a stunning addition to any landscape. Nestle one into existing flowering trees or plan a garden with one as the centerpiece. This fountain is sure to add tranquility & delight for summers to come.
Farm Grown Goodness is on the way
The greenhouses are magical this time of year!
Pansies, begonias, violas, irish moss, geraniums, & fuscias fill the space with lush green leaves and blossoms. Soon enough they will head to the garden center and then on to Nantucket gardens.
Farm grown is coming right along, too! The first crop of Hot House Tomatoes are just starting
to set their first tiny fruits!

Below, Bok Choy and tender Lettuces are happy and growing away in the Hydro House!

Farm to Gold Ghee, Stonington, CT
The dream of Farmtrue began as an adventure of health and healing. Kim and Lynn crossed paths on their journeys of wanting to eat better, sleep better, feel better, and live better. The strong desire to reconnect with nature and live a more healthy and meaningful life led them both to seek a deeper understanding of the root cause of disease, and to promote wellness in all areas of life.
There is a strong connection between our lifestyle choices and our health, and what we eat affects our overall health, body and mind. At farmtrue, there is a deep commitment to align people with food that is seasonally appropriate while connecting people to the source. Our farmtrue ghee is the gateway to healthy digestion…

Trying to cut down on your plastic wrap? Z Wraps are the perfect way to keep food fresh and plastic wrap free. The wax coated fabric reacts with the heat of your hands, creating a seal. We carry Z wraps in a variety of sizes and multi-packs. The small and medium wraps are great for wrapping up leftover produce or a sandwich. While the large size covers bowls and casserole dishes, perfect for leftovers. New this year is the Bread & Cheese pack, which has one medium cheese pattern wrap and an x-large bread one, for those farm-made baguettes.

All-natural, reusable Z Wraps are the modern way to protect your food and the environment. With cotton fabrics in signature designs, these sustainable wraps are handcrafted in Massachusetts with beeswax, organic jojoba oil and tree resin. Z Wraps bring simple sophistication to your home or lunchbox, and a touch of warmth to a gift or dinner party.
Who's Your Farmer?  Meet Our Staff!
David Shepard, Receiving Manager

David was born in Jamaica Plains, Boston and was raised just outside of Syracuse, New York, he went to college at University of Rochester and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics and Astronomy and minored in Probabilistic Mathematics.  David started visiting the island as an infant. His earliest memory of déjà vu is looking out at the waves off Fisherman’s Beach.  It wasn’t until 2009 that David seriously considered making the move to the island year-round.  Over the last ten years, David has worked several positions at the farm including Cashier Supervisor, Inventory Manager and Assistant Grower.  Currently he runs the loading dock as our Receiving Manager.  When asked about what he looks forward to most about working on the Farm, David had this to say.

“I look forward to seeing my coworkers and the regular customers. The Farm seems to attract an incredibly intelligent and creative group of people. I’ve made many life-long friends working here.”

While not at work, David loves to spend time with his family.  He has a wonderful wife and a beautiful baby daughter (and one more on the way!).  When it’s warm they can be found playing outside, working in the garden, or hanging out with their chickens.  During the winter months they can be found reading or working on a craft project.  David is also a lover of music.   He and fellow farmer, Andrew Spollett, write original music for the band, Sled Dog.  Sled Dog has been seen on island in Nantucket’s Got Talent and will be participating in the Island Music Showcase at the Athenaeum on April 13th.  You can also find David on Main Street in the summer, performing with his father and brothers as The Art Punk Band.

Fun fact about David; he and his wife Rachel are returned Peace Corps Volunteers.  From April 2016 to November 2017, they served as Food Security Volunteers in the Western Region of Nepal.  They lived in the Himalayan foothills, there they helped subsistence farmers to increase crop yields with permaculture techniques, trained mothers with young children on childhood nutrition, introduced nutrient-rich crops to the region, worked with local schools to develop leadership and cultural exchange programs, and wrote grants to help poor communities with income-generating projects.

David is a wonderful soul and a core part of our year round staff.  We love having him and his family on the farm and cannot sufficiently express our excitement for baby girl Shepard #2!
