SPECIAL REPORT
From Your WFA Board of Directors

The Western Fairs Association conducted their annual post-Convention planning session February 23-24 with a new focus: planning for a new Executive Director to replace Stephen Chambers upon his retirement.

At the conclusion of the two-day meeting, the Board approved:
  • Retention of an executive recruitment firm to conduct the search; a sub-committee of the Board has been formed to issue a call for proposals and review the responding companies; this sub-committee will make their recommendation to the full Board on April 3rd
  •  Formation of a second sub-committee of the Board that will work with the chosen recruitment firm to develop the job description and compensation package; this sub-committee will review the final applicants and make a recommendation to the full Board
  •  The Board is anticipating that the new Executive Director will be on board at WFA in time for November's Fall Managers Conference and at the helm for the 2018 WFA Convention & Trade Show in Anaheim

In other actions, the WFA Board:
  • Welcomed new Directors Mike Bradley (Central Coast Area), Brianne Brower (IAFE Zone 7), Samantha Brown (Sacramento Valley Area), Geoff Hinds (Southern Area), and Pam Schultz (Service Member)
  • Reviewed the 2017 WFA Convention & Trade Show in Reno and prepared for the 2018 WFA Convention & Trade Show in Anaheim, Wednesday-Saturday, January 3-6
  • Ammended the Association's bylaws to add a new seat on the Board for an IAFE Zone 8 Director
  • Reviewed committee appointments and the tentative 2017 WFA event schedule
