A Perspective From Alumnus Spencer Jankowski

My name is Spencer Jankowski. I've been working with NTLP for 7 years and recently had the privilege of being invited to volunteer with Generation Leadership and the California Police Activities League (Cal PAL).

Over the course of about 4 days, our small group of Generation Leadership crew members worked alongside A'ric Jackson to help nearly 200 teens learn leadership skills, improve social skills, and come out of their comfort zones in order to destroy their metaphorical "box" which was holding them back from realizing and reaching their true potential.

As with NTLP, teaching these skills made me reflect on my strengths and weaknesses with greater intensity than learning them in the first place ever had. This further supports my belief that teaching is the best way to learn and volunteering for a good cause brings the greatest feeling of satisfaction and reward I've experienced.
