Fernanda Longo
Greenhouse Operations Manager
Fernanda first came to Nantucket in March 2012. After completing her agriculture degree in Brazil, she started looking for internships and was introduced to the farm by a former employee who had also attended her college. When she arrived, she was struck by the distinct and different seasons on Nantucket - very different than Brazil.
Fernanda began working with Pete as a greenhouse intern and she was given more responsibility each year. Excited to hone her skills and learn some new ones, she became a supervisor, then a crew leader, then an assistant manager, and currently holds the position of Greenhouse Operations Manager, where she oversees what's growing in the greenhouses, and what's being sold in the garden center. She loves working in the greenhouse because every day is different - the job changes as the seasons change.
Fernanda is very happy when she is tending cut flowers. Favorites? Dahlias and Lilies. In fact, she likes them so much, she named her dog Lily! Days off for Fernanda include daily beach visits, exploring the island with Lily, reading silly books, enjoying sunrise and sunset from her window and volunteering at the animal shelter when time allows.
After these last 6 years on the farm, she's grown to love how peaceful the island can be in the off season and the family community she has at Bartlett's Farm.
