Community leader listening meeting spurs connection and relationships

Community and congregational leaders met for an evening of listening and sharing at St. John’s Lutheran Church in early November in Preston, IA.

The questions asked were: What are the most urgent needs among the people you serve? How can churches and other organizations partner with you to meet those needs?

Members of St. John’s Lutheran, St. Joseph’s Catholic, Presbyterian Church of Miles, and United Methodist Church in Preston listened as eleven area leaders shared about everything from environmental concerns to transportation, treatment, housing, hunger and more...

Peer Ministry Leadership Conference
The 2018 Peer Ministry Leadership Conference (PMLC) is a great opportunity for you or your group to grow as Christian leaders. The PMLC is a casual, group learning environment focused on participants gaining the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to not just be Peer Ministers, but also to teach the curriculum to others. We are blessed to have Lyle Griner, the author of Peer Ministry with us to lead us for the weekend.

February 18th 12:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Grand View University-Des Moines
Light refreshments provided during the conference.  Participants will be responsible for their own meals. There are several dining options available on and near campus.

Thanks to a wonderful donor the conference is only $40 for the first person from your congregation and $20 for each additional person. Bring a whole team of staff, leaders, and youth! The PMLC is open to anyone high school age and older.

December 17-Third Sunday of Advent
He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. ~John 1:7-8

As Christians we work to make sure that “Jesus is the reason for the season.” Our Christmas cards and decorations provide a witness to our faith. How can we continue this same witness the rest of the year? How do we steward the good news in the off-season?
