Prayers for the Entertainment Industry
Dear HPN members,

We are so thankful for all of you, especially this month of Thanksgiving! And we pray that you will have a joyous Thanksgiving, full of gratitude and thanks for your family and friends, good health and love. God is faithful!!!

Also, November is National Adoption Month, and because L.A. is known as the "City of Orphans," we want you all to be praying for the children, adoptive parents, social workers, and everyone involved in the adoption process in Hollywood and across the country this month. They need our prayers! Bless you and thank you for being a part of HPN. Let’s pray…
Castle Studios, Burbank

We are celebrating the work of Christians in Hollywood who are making an impact during COVID. This week we want to highlight Castle Studios, Burbank, which is run by HPN members, the Piphers, who have committed themselves to excellence as they boldly live out their faith in the production space. They have recently been recognized for using their green screen studio to shoot projects that otherwise couldn’t be shot due to COVID restrictions. Please pray for them to have continued favor and ministry opportunities as they welcome top industry pros to shoot in their state-of-the-art facility.

Christian Film Finishing Fund

During the pandemic, Christians throughout Hollywood are finding creative ways to help the community. Some are helping to feed the 70,000+ in L.A. experiencing homelessness, others are giving unemployed artists places to stay or part-time jobs. One group, Kappa Studios, has created a Finishing Fund for Christians who have not been able to complete their independent film projects. Though HPN is not suggesting you give money, we ask that you pray for the HPN members at Kappa Studios. This fundraising effort is one of the many amazing ways that believers are helping our struggling industry. And we want to celebrate every effort, as we work together to lift up and encourage the Christian artists who are trying to make an eternal difference in our city, our nation and our world.
In Memorium: Alex Trebek

We are so sad as we pray for the loss of Alex Trebek, who fought a noble battle with pancreatic cancer for 19 months. Alex passed away on November 8th, at the age of 80. We have been praying for Alex continually, and though he handled his disease with courage and class, it was time for the Lord to take him home. Please pray for his family, friends and all of his coworkers on Jeopardy as they grieve an American television icon.

UTA Insurance Lawsuit

Please keep praying for the entertainment production companies, agencies and studios who are barely hanging on or closing down because of COVID-19. An estimated 270,000 people have lost their jobs in our industry in the last 8 months. The talent agency UTA is claiming a loss of $150 million due to coronavirus shutdowns, and they are suing their insurance company, Vigilant, and Federal Insurance to try to recoup some of their losses. So, your prayers are needed as Hollywood business owners respond with next steps, and professionals try to find work or redefine themselves.
Lilo & Stitch

Pray for the creative team behind the upcoming live action version of Lilo & Stitch, which is planned for release on Disney+. This sweet children’s film has a creative team full of believers. It will be directed by producer/director Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) and executive-produced by HPN members at Rideback Studios. Would you ask the Lord to give them inspiration, unity and creativity in making this film, whose characters our children love.

The controversial short-form video app TikTok, which claims it has more than 100 million U.S. users, is fighting attempts by the US Commerce Department to shut it down. The department has backed down for now, but it claims that TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, would allow Chinese government access to the app’s users’ data. Let’s pray for the Lord’s wisdom and discernment to guide the owners of TikTok and the government officials as they fight through this issue that affects millions of users.
The Queen's Gambit

We want to end this week by pointing out the good on television! The Netflix series The Queen's Gambit follows a female chess prodigy who grew up in an orphanage, had a very difficult childhood, yet chess saved her life. This series is based on a novel that shows if someone believes in us, we can overcome. The Queen’s Gambit, though not recommended for all audiences, is one of many on television and in films today with an uplifting message. We encourage you to find the good in our country’s entertainment, especially during difficult times.

We also want to highlight HPN member Pastor Jon Ritner’s first book, Positively Irritating, releases this month from 100 Movements Publishing. Please lift up HPN member Susan, as she begins the process of planning an annual Christian Women's Film Festival.
It’s one thing to be grateful. It’s another to give thanks. Gratitude is what you feel. Thanksgiving is what you do.

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.”

The power of thankfulness

Being thankful is one of the most beautiful qualities of a Christian and makes us stand out amongst our non-believing friends as they see us expressing a thankful attitude for all things in our life, for we have so much to be thankful for. This week we focus on being thankful to the Lord every day, so that we end the week overflowing with thankfulness, praise, gratitude and joy.
