Worship 8:30am & 10:45am
Education 9:30am
Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost

Scripture: Matthew 16:13-20

Do you remember the last time you sat down to put a jigsaw puzzle together? If you can’t, don’t feel bad, neither can I. What I do remember is how there were two basic steps to reassembling the picture these puzzles contained. The first was to put together the edges and the edge pieces were easily identified because they had one or two straight edges. When these pieces were connected to each other, a frame for the rest of the puzzle emerged and it was time to start the second step – assembling the body of the puzzle. Within the context of the frame it was much easier to determine where the middle pieces fit into the bigger picture because the frame provided both perspective and boundaries.

Sometimes life can resemble a jigsaw puzzle, can’t it? There all sorts of demands on our time, our finances, our energy, our attention and our presence. Without some context that provides perspective and boundaries, it’s hard to make all those pieces fit together. Without perspective we can’t figure out how some things fit into our lives and without boundaries we can easily overextend ourselves.

Over the next four weeks we’ll be completing the sentence: This is your _________. Each week we’ll look at this sentence from a different perspective that will hopefully assist us in identifying what Saint Andrew means to each us and why it’s important in our lives. Once that frame is built, perhaps we will be able to more clearly see where stewardship fits into the broader context of our faith and our life together.

This week as we consider Jesus’ question: “But who do you say I am?” we'll be thinking about our name – not only who we are known as, but also what we are known for.

I hope to see you Sunday!

In Peace,
Mark

Community Supported Agriculture
As the weather has turned cold, our farmers will soon be unable to bring produce. However, they plan to come to Saint Andrew often over the winter to bring their wonderful sambusas to sell.  If you have not tried them, please do.  They are delicious vegetable filled pastries and heat up very well in the oven.  From time to time they may also bring a noodle dish as they did last week and their delicious baked chicken and rice.  Ramat and SwaDit are so appreciative of our support and friendship.
