ArtWalk @ Liberty Station

There are just a few spaces remaining for the 11th Annual ArtWalk  @ Liberty Station will take place August 13 & 14, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 on Saturday and 10:99AM to 5:00PM on Sunday. The stunning location is Ingram Plaza at Liberty Station. Artist applications have been pouring in so don't miss out on an event that will sell out very soon.

ArtWalk @ Liberty Station offers plenty of free parking, has the perfect layout for easy load-in and load-out, and with our unique footprint, every artist occupies a corner tent!

Artists receive the benefits of our organization's marketing and publicity program which brings thousands of attendees to each of the events we produce. A high quality tent and a page on the ArtWalk @ Liberty Station website are included in your registration fees. The San Diego Museum of Art presents Brush and Ink: Chinese Paintings, through September 4, 2016.In presenting Brush and Ink: Chinese Paintings from The San Diego Museum of Art Selected by Pan Gongkai,  the Museum hopes to foster awareness and encourage further research into this important part of the Museum's collection.

Curated by contemporary Chinese artist Pan Gongkai, the works have been selected to highlight the artistry of the traditional technique of brush and ink painting from the 15th century to the present. Hanging scrolls, hand scrolls, fans and Pan's own monumental painting, made for The San Diego Museum of Art in 2015, illustrate stylistic trends but also the remarkable continuity of Chinese ink painting.

The La Jolla Athenaeum 

The Athenaeum presents Adrienne Joy in the Rotunda Gallery through July 23, 2016.

Adrienne Joy presents an intimate suite of expressionistic oil paintings that are based on photographs she took of people and situations that sparked her curiosity while traveling on the streets, and in the public transportation, of London, Glasgow and Paris. The source images are a collection of chance encounters and random snapshots, in the tradition of street photography. Joy then created re-imagined portraits developing a psychological connection to each subject through a trial and error method of unplanned painting.

It’s the final night of Kanaval in Haiti, and a group of abandoned children spend it trading fantastic folktales until the line between reality and fiction blurs. At daybreak, the oldest plans to leave for a new life but discovers the story of his future and past are in the hands of someone else. California Center for the Arts will host My Hero: Contemporary Art & Superhero Action through August 14, 2016. Discover the secret life of your favorite superheroes in the sprawling collection of international artworks that is My Hero. The artists in the exhibition both pay homage to these universal idols and present critical questions about their God-like stature as they re-imagine and newly interpret iconic superhero imagery. Some spin the fantasy even further by imagining the hero as a child, as an aging being, and even as an animal. The variety of interpretations in My Hero is vast and challenging, dark and humorous, familiar yet new.

San Diego Repertory Theatre 

The San Diego Repertory Theatre presents Maestro, July 6 through July 17 on the Lyceum Stage. Combining first person narrative, and his own music as well as music that inspired him, Hershey Felder as Leonard Bernstein in MAESTRO is a tale spanning the entire 20th century. Leonard Bernstein, one of America’s greatest musicians, broke through every artistic ceiling possible to become the world’s musical ambassador. Conductor, composer, pianist, author, teacher, librettist, television star…for Leonard Bernstein, boundaries simply did not exist.
