'Tis the Season of Giving

Through the month of December

The holidays are a great time for giving back – whether that means donating winter clothing to those struggling to stay warm, holiday toys for less fortunate children, or canned food for the hungry. This holiday season, bring joy to a local family in need by making a donation.

You can grab a tag off the Giving Tree, located in the lower level of the township building. Donations can be dropped off in the boxes in the upper level lobby.

Fall Leaf Collection

As we wrap up leaf collection season, our Public Works Department would like to remind residents of a few tips.

🍁 Keep leaf piles as close to the curb as possible or in biodegradable paper bags
🍁 Use caution while driving in rainy weather, as wet leaves can make roads more slippery
🍁 Keep leaves out of storm drains to prevent blockage

Visit the Fall Leaf Collection page on our website to find your zone, guidelines, and schedule.

Environmental

Environmental Advisory Council Tip

Environmental impact of Christmas trees: Should we buy a real or fake tree?

Not many topics cause more debates during the holiday season than holiday lights and Christmas trees. This article addresses the main pros and cons of using artificial trees versus real trees from an environmental standpoint, so that those who choose to celebrate the holiday with a tree can make the best decision and see what the science says. Regardless of which type of tree you get, make sure you know the impact it will have on the environment before you buy it!

Bad Bugs!

If you haven't heard of the Emerald Ash Borer or Spotted Lanternfly by now, you must be living under a rock. Both insects have made Upper Merion their homes, and homeowners and property owners need to be aware of what to do if you spot them on your property. Learn more:

Richly-illustrated with archival photographs, this three-part seminar takes the audience on a captivating journey through the history of travel to Egypt; from her “Golden Age” of tourism (between the years 1850-1950) right up to the modern era. This lecture focuses on the development of Egypt’s legendary hotels, such as the Majestic Hotel in Alexandria, Shepheard’s Hotel in Cairo, and the Winter Palace Hotel in Luxor.
