Class for Lay Persons

March 16

The Rev. Mark Rigg will lead a class on “We Read Romans. Romans Reads Us.” New Testament scholar N.T. Wright calls Romans “the greatest letter ever written.” It is that and much more. It is Paul’s declaration of faith. It is a treasure vault of gifts to the church and to the individual believer. In our time together we will look at a handful of passages from Romans that occur on a regular basis in Lutheran worship. While we are reading Romans, it will “read” us by telling us hard truths about ourselves and glorious promises from God revealed in Jesus Christ. Homework: please read or listen to Romans at least once in advance of our time together. Then, time permitting, see if you can summarize the letter in your own words in just a paragraph or two.

The class will be offered on Saturday, March 16, from 9:00 a.m. until noon at the Lutheran Center, 2354 Grove Road, Allentown. Any member or friend of one of our congregations is welcome to attend. The cost is $10 and can be paid the morning of the event; but you must register by Wednesday, March 13 by calling Pastor Mary Gade at 610-266-5101.

This event is offered free of charge to farm families as a way to say thank you for all you do to provide for the needs of community and world. Your generous donations, no matter how big or small, all help make it happen. If you have contributed before, would you consider doing so again. If you never have, how about starting this year. Make check out to Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod or just NEPS and send them to 2354 Grove Road, Allentown, PA 18109 attention: Pastor Mary Gade. Thanks for your support.
