Next Seminar

Our next seminar is less than two weeks away!  If you live on the Treasure Coast, we hope you will join us on Saturday, September 8, 2018.  The seminar title is "I Am Not A Crook" and it will be from 10:00 a.m.-12 Noon.  The cost is still $8 per person.  Come a little early for coffee, juice, donuts and other goodies.  No need to register ahead of time, just come join us!  You may bring your laptop or tablet if you like but they are not necessary for the class.  Our seminar will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity United Methodist Church, 2221 NE Savannah Rd., Jensen Beach, FL  34957

(Click on the church name for directions.)

If you’re a Remote Technical Support (RTS) customer or you’re thinking about becoming one (and you should!), this free, 30-minute webinar will explain all the ins and outs of our new Remote software.  We’ve switched to a company called Bomgar.  They are the Cadillac of the industry and, although our leasing costs are higher, we believe you’ll really like the new software.  For Mac users, you get our normal icon on your desktop and logging in is so much easier!

The webinar will be THIS Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.  Remember, sign up even if you can’t make it at that time.  You’ll get the follow up and a link to the recording.  Again, if you are an RTS customer, this webinar is very important.  Sign up by clicking on the button below.  When you do, don't forget to click "I am not a robot."

Question of the Week

Question: "How can I stop getting all this junk email?"

Answer:  This is a question we hear all the time.  Junk email, also known as Spam, is very much on the rise.  What you may not know is that a lot of junk email is actually filtered out at the email server before it even hits your Inbox or Spam box.  Despite the email server filters, lots of junk email still makes it to our mailboxes.  What can you do to stop spam?

Unfortunately, junk email can't actually be stopped - it's here to stay.  However, there are things you can do to minimize its effect in your email.  Here are a few suggestions:

  • If a junk email makes it to your Inbox, don't just delete it - you need to actually mark it Spam or Junk.  All email software has the option for you to do so.
  • Never unsubscribe from an email list to which you never actually subscribed.  Spammers often send to email addresses which they don't even know if the email still exists.  When you unsubscribe, you've just told them that your email is valid and you'll get more junk instead of less.
  • Use throw-away email addresses.  Many email providers allow you to create throw-away email addresses.  Instead of signing up to lists with your real email address, you use one of these throw-away addresses and when the junk gets bad, you just delete it.
  • Ask your friends and family to use BCC: when they send out to multiple email addresses.  You should do the same.
  • Most email software allows you to create rules to handle emails with certain words or phrases regardless of the "from" email address.  For instance, you could create a rule that any email that has "Viagra" (or common misspellings of the word) in the subject would automatically go to the Trash folder.  Find out if you can create a rule and learn how to us the process!

Remember, you can't eliminate junk email but you can control it!
