"Fasting" from: Unsustainable Food Products | Some strategies: try a vegetarian diet, eat less meat, buy & eat locally grown food
I'd venture to say that we are all thinking about food every day. And I don't mean only the "Oh wow, I'm really craving (fill in the blank)" and "What will I have for dinner tonight?" thoughts, but also the surrounding issues of health, cost, environmental impact, packaging, accessibility, and more.
In the past weeks, I've noticed that even at Advent we all bring different perspectives and priorities to issues like food and environmental justice. And yet, we are gathered by our love for God, neighbor, and planet. As members of a Christian community, God calls us to try to take action on these challenges together. For me, that's what it means right now to be the "Body of Christ."
Today's devotion video
(3 min) is a compilation of brief perspectives and moments I've gotten on camera during our Carbon Fast this Lent.
Off-camera I've heard a great many more thoughts, ideas, and experiences from all of you during this Carbon Fast, but what I am most looking forward to now is seeing what we might do together in the future. Think about that as you hear these voices.
1 Corinthians 12:24-27 | God put our bodies together in such a way that even the parts that seem the least important are valuable. He did this to make all parts of the body work together smoothly, with each part caring about the others [. . .] Together you are the body of Christ.
