PRAYER REQUESTS
The Teen Challenge ministry was born in prayer. It survives and thrives through prayer. With over 273 million addicts worldwide and a prophetic mandate to Put Hope Within Reach of every addict, we don't just believe in miracles, we rely on them.

Thank you to all who are joining for 21 days of prayer and fasting. We remember that on February 9, 1958, David Wilkerson sold his TV to spend more time in prayer. After 19 days of prayer, God led him to New York City. From that step of simple obedience Teen Challenge was born. In 2021 God still empowers TC worldwide to reach the lost and bring the claims of the gospel to bear on the opioid, alcohol and drug crisis
.
A primary strand of the TC DNA IS PRAYER.

life magazine
A pen and ink drawing of the
defendants started it all.

63 years ago, David Wilkerson sold his TV to spend more time in prayer. He opened the February 28, 1958, LIFE Magazine and saw the coverage of the Michael Farmer/Egyptian Kings trial. His gaze was drawn to the eyes of the young defendants in the picture.

God spoke to his heart,
"Go help those boys."

Bible Waving Preacher Interrupts Trial
DW Bible Wave
This racially charged trial involved seven boys who brutally murdered Michael Farmer, an innocent handicapped boy over a senseless turf war. Brother Dave stepped out in "Simple Obedience" leaving us an example to boldly go. Though he was disgraced and thrown out the courtroom, God used it to open the doors to the most violent gangs of New York City and TC was born.
and the whole NATION PRAYED

Many know the story of that great first rally at St. Nick’s Arena in New York City told in the Cross & the Switchblade. Nicky Cruz, Israel and many of the gang members encountered Jesus there, but it was not a one-man job. This amazing call to prayer in the July 6, 1958

Pentecostal Evangel tells more.

The article begins:
Pray for Youth of New York.
St.  Nicholas Arena in New York will be the scene of a series of youth meetings designed to reach teen-age gangs and other teenagers in the area for Christ, July 8 through 12.

There are over 115 gangs, some with as many as ten divisions, operating in the city. Police and gang leaders have predicted that this may well be "the bloodiest summer in New York City's history." The urgency of this situation points up the need for a real move of God at this time.

The article concludes:

A prayer chain has been started which will continue through the dates of the Arena meetings. All night prayer meetings have been organized by the C. A's in various sections of the city. Everyone is urged to pray that this will be the beginning of a great harvest among teen-agers in New York across America.

The beginnings of a great harvest that they prayed for in July of 1958 unleashed a Holy Spirit fire in New York City and birthed Brooklyn Teen Challenge. Like a mighty river of fire it overflowed our borders and continues to burn today. God has used TC powerfully and the flame of freedom has roared around the world from that first center to 1400 centers in 128 nations worldwide in 2021.

Jesus said, “Peace be with you!
As the Father has sent me,
I am sending you.”
John 20:21

21  Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
Matthew 10:81

My first “take-away” from this scripture is that our MISSION 20:21 starts with peace in the midst of turmoil. Jesus is about to lead his disciples through the most agonizing and horrifying experience of their lives, and He speaks a word of COMFORT, Peace.”

Some thought He was on the verge of being crowned as king. Others saw him unifying Israel and elevating the kingdom to levels of unparalleled glory not seen since the days of David and Solomon. Others were just interested in the earthly benefits and recognition they would receive as He rose to power. They were clueless that this path would lead through the agony of the cross. They never quite understood that Resurrection can only follow death.

The word of COMFORT was Peace.

The CONFIRMATION was,
“As the Father sent me."

The Father sent Jesus on a selfless mission of servanthood and sacrifice. We must see our Mission 20:21 as God sending us on a selfless mission to spend ourselves for a dying world.

We will have forever in eternity to praise God,
but there is a limit on the time to reach the lost.
Around the world, amid turmoil, surrounded by pandemic, political unrest, persecution and panic, hearts are paralyzed by fear. People not only need to be comforted with words of peace but to see it in the real lives of real people.

His COMMAND was “So send I you.”
When something or someone is sent, it has a purpose, there is a destination. We are sent. We have a purpose; we have a destination.  The charge is clear, we are sent to a broken world. Look at the disciples; fishermen, a religious zealot, tax collector, a political hack, and a thief to name a few.

They were jealous, could not get along, fought among themselves, and were often spiritually clueless, scolded as “men of little faith.” Facing an invading army, political corruption, a pagan world, and apostate Israel … without benefit of printing press, television or social media. Could they propel the GOOD NEWS to the world?
Can God use us?

Jesus touched lepers, (untouchable by society), He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, had time for interruptions like a woman with an “issue of blood”, and offered forgiveness to all. Do you know who God has sent you to? Can you forgive? Do you know that interruptions are often a divine appointment for a miracle?

The command “So send I you” is still operative. More than that, the level of urgency has increased.  The prophetic time-clock is winding down as our culture is reaping a whirlwind of consequences for slaughter of innocent life, sin, perversion, and selfish living..

We will have unlimited time to worship God in eternity, but there is an expiration date on outreach. SO SEND I YOU is strategically directed by the Holy Spirit and time-limited by the days, so we need to “gird our minds for action” to redeem the time. (Eph 5:16).

Most of us, at least once, have made a New Year resolution, to pray more, study more or reach more. My MISSION 20:21 is that by the grace He gives, not just to do more, but to Be More.

For MISSION 20:21, will you pray with me, “Father, in the midst of the chaos, I receive your peace. Help me to keep my knees down, my hands lifted in praise, and my eyes on the prize. As I have freely, freely received, so may I freely, freely give. Here I am Lord, Send me."

FOCUS

Again I say
unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done
for them of
my Father which is in heaven.

1) Novel Coronavirus

Please pray for those at risk, infected and affected by the novel coronavirus. (2019-nCoV), Globally, there are now a total of 94 million confirmed cases with over 2 million deaths globally. W Health Organization confirms 721, 411 new infections worldwide in the last 24 hours.

We have 24 million cases and almost 400,000 deaths in the United States. Please join with us to pray for our upcoming SOS MISSION to Senegal. With 15 million people they have had 23,000 cases (301,000 tested ) and 600 deaths. God have MERCY, stem the tide, keep the borders open so we may reach this Sunni Nation with the good news.

Progress is s complicated by the new strain of COVID variant B.1.1.7 that has been detected in dozens of countries with similar strains emerging in Nigeria and South Africa. Data shows that it spreads 70% more . WHO said that the new strain is responsible for over half of the new infections in the UKin the ever evolving health crisis.
World Health Organization Novel Corona-virus DASHBOARD

Please pray that the power of Jesus Christ would break the the back of this viral satanic twindemic of virus and fear. We are praying for friends, partners and sacrificial ministry assets, who are sharing the word at the epicenter of this pandemic. Pray for supernatural power, protection, and miracles to follow wherever they go. Please pray for front-line workers and first responders as well as those continuing to develop therapeutic and alternative treatments and vaccines.

2) Pray for America

Can you join intercessors across the USA, as a body of believers, to unite in prayer, entrusting our nation’s capitol to the Lord during the inauguration and over the weeks and months ahead. My heart is broken by the domestic terrorists who stormed our capitol and the continuing threats of armed demonstrations across the nation, even from some who claim to be Christians. Our call is not to arms, but to our knees.

Things have taken a terrible turn in the United States as an administration with no regard for human life, free speech, religious rights (closing churches as they open casinos, marijuana shops & bar) right to life, and an unrestrained commitment to a movement dedicated to sexual perversion has taken control of the House, the Senate and the presidency. We still have the words of Jeremiah the prophet who commands God's people to pray for an idolatrous pagan leadership. We implore that you join us to call on God Almighty to grant us mercy and extend a covering of protection, peace and reconciliation.

And seek the peace of the city … and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:7, 12-13

Help us to commit our leaders and representatives to You, Lord, knowing that the heart of the king is in Your hand and that all governments are subject to Your authority. We ask for a supernatural peace to be upon Washington, D.C., and over the cities and towns across the land (the Republic). And above all, we ask for the hearts of the nation to turn to You, Lord.

3) DAKAR, SENEGAL - MISSION SOS

Intercede with us for the upcoming Mission SOS-Dakar, Senegal outreach April 20 to May 6 with Johannes Amritzer.  A Sunni  لسنغال Muslim country influenced by the 'Sufi Brotherhood', it has only 5% Christian population. We are praying for anointing, provision, protection and for each person that GOD will save, heal and deliver during the festival in Dakar.

Dakar, a city pop. just over 1 million, capital of Senegal, a majority Sunni Muslim country, and one of the chief seaports on the western African coast is located midway between the mouths of the Gambia and Sénégal rivers on the southeast side of the Cape Verde Peninsula, Africa’s most westerly point.

The Autonomous Port of Dakar is an important transit hub for goods from all over the world. It is the third largest multi-modal port in West Africa. Its natural geographic position in Africa on shipping routes between Latin America and Europe makes it an attractive destination for drug trafficking

4) HEALING PRAYER

Please join us in prayer for TC staff and students that are battling COVID-19. Please also agree with us in prayer for a dear friend, and former TC staff member who is undergoing chemotherapy and battling cancer. Praying for grace, peace and healing in Jesus' name..

5) VISION & WISDOM

Please pray for wisdom for our travel schedule through 2021.  Thanking God that He will lead, guide and order our steps to the places He wants us to be.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we can ask or think according to the power that works within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Jesus Christ to all generations forever and ever. AMEN
Ephesians 3:20-21

6) FINANCIAL CHALLENGES
AS WE LAUNCH A NEW YEAR

We appreciate those who pray for us. As we answer the call to Dakar, Senegal with Johannes Amritzer and MISSION SOS. With other pending invitations from sensitive nations, as border restrictions are relaxed and doors open, please pray that the Lord will speak to the hearts of people who will help to sponsor these flights.

7) FOCUS for the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

As we look forward into 2021, we are asking God to empower us to reach those who are searching for the freedom that is found in Jesus. Will you stand in prayer with us against the forces of darkness?

  • Expect transformation in yourself.
  • Model humility. Lead your staff and students into the presence of God.
  • Expect your staff and students and those around you to have an encounter with the Holy Spirit.
  • Give the Holy Spirit permission to change your schedule.
Decide what physical or social activities you will restrict. Will you have the devotional and prayer time during chapel in the morning or in the place of a meal? Make sure to give the Holy Spirit time to speak.
  • Decide how you will use the daily devotionals at your center. Teen Challenge leaders from around the globe have volunteered to minister to us in our devotionals. What a wonderful way to expand the world-view of our staff and students and realize the enormity of our Teen Challenge family by receiving from global leaders.
  • Decide the type of fast for your center to undertake
(Daniel fast, fast only one meal a day, etc.).
  • Fasting must be voluntary, offered as a sacrifice unto the Lord, not forced. Explain to your students what fasting is and what it is not and then give them an opportunity to participate.
  • Plan for the students who will be fasting and those who will not.
  • Decide how much time each day you will devote to prayer and God's Word.
