Prayers for the Entertainment Industry
Dear HPN friends,

We hope you all had a joyous Easter! Now, as we move into spring, we want to fall more in love with our God and with the Hollywood community. Keep praying for the people who create our entertainment — and encourage your family, friends and church members to do the same — because our goal is to build a bridge between the "Church" and "Hollywood" through prayer and love. Let's do it!
Nicole Kidman's faith

We are finding more and more to praise God for in the past year and we know that's an answer to prayer. This week we want to thank God for brave, honest celebrities who are open about their faith, and Nicole Kidman is one of those women. She believes in God and continues her childhood faith and brings her children to church every week. And though her friends may tease her for that, she is being an example to the people around her. Let's thank God for her strength and ask Him to give her wisdom, grace and love as she responds to the people in her life who may not understand her choice to love God!
John Singleton

Pray for the family, friends and fans of Boyz In The Hood director John Singleton, who died of a stroke on April 17th at the age of 51. John was the youngest and first black director to win an Academy Award nomination for Boyz In The Hood when he was 24, and he continued to be a voice of equality throughout his life and in his work. He opened the doors for more ethnic diversity in Hollywood and we pray that his impact will be long-lasting in our community.
David Milch diagnosed with Alzheimer's

David Milch, creator of Deadwood, recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Let's pray for David to be supported by his friends, family, and co-workers, even as he may feel discouraged and fearful. Pray for him to experience the love and presence of God, and for the Christians in his life to demonstrate to him the comfort, peace, and healing of Jesus.
Pray for Avengers: Endgame

Marvel's Avengers: Endgame brought an enormous turnout to theatres globally, for a staggering opening weekend that has broken all box office records. Let's take this opportunity to pray for the impact of the film on movie-goers all over the planet. May they find God's truths in the story as they experience community in the theatres. Pray for God to be working through this record-breaking film and generation-defining franchise.
Pray for documentary filmmakers

Documentaries are a powerful way to understand our world and the people in it, and they are becoming more and more popular in today's marketplace. Pray through Variety's list of ten documentary filmmakers to watch this year, praying for the filmmakers themselves and the unique ways that they tell stories and reveal truth.
Pray for Hollywood assistants

We want you to pray with us for one of the most important, influential and yet abused and unrecognized job in Hollywood: the production/office/personal assistants. Assistants are the glue to any production company, film shoot and office in our business and yet assistants are most often underpaid, overworked and unappreciated. Pray for all of the assistants in Hollywood to feel valued, and to have a clear understanding of their purpose in their jobs. Additionally, Christians who are assistants often have more access to decision-makers than even other decision-makers, so we want to pray for their impact as believers in that position. As you pray, read this description of the struggles that assistants have in our industry, written by HPN member Ashley Kelly.
Pray for new entertainment leaders

Let's continue to pray for the new entertainment leaders who are taking over decision-making positions in major industry companies:
• Jane Latman is the new president of HGTV READ MORE>>
• Lynn Whitney is the new Head of Worldwide Paid Media at Lionsgate READ MORE>>
• Naia Cucukov is the new Executive VP of Development and Production at Walden Media READ MORE>>
• Shannon Ryan is the new President of Marketing at ABC Entertainment/Disney Television READ MORE>>
• Ken Basin is the new Head of Business Affairs, and Liz the new Senior VP of Production, at Paramount READ MORE>>
Thank you for praying with us for the people in the world's most influential marketplace! As you pray, find out how you can get more involved in the other ministries and resources of HPN that we offer to Christians both in and outside of the Hollywood entertainment industry. Connect to a Local Chapter, get a prayer partner, download our Kids & Teens Prayer Calendar, pass on our HPN Call Sheet to others, or pray with us in small groups. You'll find it all at hollywoodprayernetwork.org.

With love,

HPN's newest YouVersion devotional on LOVE is now available. LOVE is the most beautiful word and emotion when it’s used for good. God is love. We’re all hungry for love. This week we’ll look at 1 Corinthians and learn how to love people more, love God more, and be more Christ-like, because of God’s amazing, unconditional, unending love for us.
