January 4, 2018

Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me – you did it to me.

Join us for worship this Sunday!
8:45 Contemporary Service
11:15 Traditional Service
On Sunday Morning, we will hear from our United Methodist Volunteer in Mission Team who traveled to Camphor Mission in Liberia (in west Africa) this summer. Come learn about their life changing experiences!

The East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church's 3Cs Mission Project – Churches, Clinics and Classrooms, is an effort to minister to the whole person, body, mind and spirit. In Liberia, the UMC Camphor Mission Station is doing just that. It is a United Methodist Mission in the Liberia Annual Conference in West Africa. It is a school; a clinic; an agricultural program and a church. Camphor Mission is a place where United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) Teams and Individual Volunteers can come to share their gifts and talents. It is a place where you can learn hospitality, Liberian rural life, encounter Jesus, and make friends with amazing people. Camphor Mission, in partnership with other United Methodist Churches around the world, is addressing the needs in rural Liberia for Christian spirituality, education, health, clean water, and agriculture.

Sunday's Message:  God's Family at Camphor Mission, Liberia

Flat Rock Homes Youth Overnight // January 12-13

Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon

Confirmands and High School students, YOU ARE INVITED! Flat Rock Homes is a special place where people who are differently-able receive care from a wonderful staff, learn important workforce skills, and experience a sense of community with one another. During our visit, we will help with Christian Education and lend a hand to the facility manager. After our daily activities we will have a lock-in at the facility with a movie, snacks, and access to a full gym! We hope you will join us.  RSVP required to attend this event BEFORE January 8 to youth@brecksvilleumc.com!

Fabric Drive for Flat Rock!  Do you have fabric just hanging around your house? Flat Rock Homes would love to take any fleece that you have off of your hands! They can use any size at least 1 foot by 1 foot square. Their Aktion Club & Adult Advantages folks make toys & blankets for the Huron County Humane Society with the fabric. Our Youth will have a collection bin in the Parlor this Sunday and will take the fabric with them on their overnight next Friday, January 12!
Go Tell it on the Mountain
Sundays at 10 am // Jan 14—Feb 11
A new all church study for adults.  We are people who love to hear a good story. How are you at telling a story? Can you tell the story of your faith? Of your encounters with God in your day to day living? Who are the key players in your faith development story? Does any of it matter all that much? Join us for this engaging, interactive time of looking introspectively our own faith journey. Drop in anytime!

The church needs YOUR ideas!

Have you ever thought about Brecksville UMC’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats? As we start a new year, let’s also take a fresh look at our ministry. Weather you attend here regularly or rarely, we need to hear from you!  Plan to join us for one of the small group sessions on January 22 and 24. Our discussions will be led by Rev. Dave Martin, a retired Methodist pastor and consultant, who served at Rocky River United Methodist Church. Our goal is to have 10—12 people participate in each group.

Please sign-up for a session that best fits your schedule. Available times include 1:30, 3:00, 6:30 and 8:00 on January 22 and 24.

Please be patient with our recycling bins! They're overflowing with wrapping paper, packaging, boxes, holiday catalogs and cards.  Thank you for saving all items made of paper for recycling and for helping to earn money for our hunger ministry!  Our bins were just emptied this morning, so if you can brave the cold, it's a good time to add your paper!
