Happy Thanksgiving!
We've got a lot to be thankful for here at HGH, heading into our 11th year on the Ithaca Commons. And we're big fans of the practice of gratitude - not just the concept of counting one's blessings - but the evident psychological benefits of actually counting them every day. So naturally, we get excited for the Thanksgiving holiday. Slowing down and enjoying good food with friends and family is a key piece of sustainable culture. May every day be Thanksgiving Day! May every day be Earth Day!
Friday Nov 24th is Coming
Yes, that most infamous and most ballyhooed of all the Fridays is almost upon us...Blue Friday! Our Philadelphia-based supplier of organic cotton apparel and stylish accessories, United By Blue, is promoting a great idea this year - to work off those turkey/tofurkey calories by spending an hour this Friday cleaning up your local lake, ocean, river or creek. Stop by the store anytime this week to get your free waterfront cleanup kit (while supplies last). After your cleanup efforts, pause to feel the satisfaction and enjoy the view, then head back to the above link to enter UBB's Blue Friday Sweepstakes and potentially win cool stuff.
That Other Color Friday!

No need to queue up at our door at midnight...you can avoid the big box mayhem, and still get a screaming deal or two this weekend (in a relaxed, enlightened manner of course!). These specials run Friday through Monday (Nov 24 to 27).

  • 20% off any Savvy Rest products, including their dreamy super-customizable organic latex mattresses, pillows, and mattress pads.

  • 20% off select Coyuchi organic bedding, including all flannel sheets, blankets, quilts, throws, and duvet covers (in stock items only)!
While You're Downtown...
Check out the fun stuff the Downtown Ithaca Alliance is organizing for Small Business Saturday, enjoy free parking Thursday through Sunday, and share some love by dropping a donation in the red box for the cool downtown "Pay It Forward" program. Don't forget to swing by Press Bay Alley as well (just west of Cayuga St & Green St intersection), and check out the cool businesses making that area Ithaca's hippest new spot!
