Orientation Schedule
 
 
 
 
 
FIUTS International Student Orientation is designed to introduce you to the UW and help you get acquainted with other students and the Seattle area. We recommend that you arrive in Seattle before January 2nd in order to fully participate in Orientation.  

Tuesday, January 2rd
Campus Tour
1 p.m.
Meet in front of FIUTS Office, HUB 206

Exchange Students Session
2-2:45 p.m., The HUB Room 250

Orientation: Official Welcome to the University
3-5:30 p.m., The HUB Room 250 
Speakers from campus offices, International Student Services (ISS) and FIUTS introduce you to UW resources and important immigration requirements.

Dinner with Current Students
5:30-7:30 p.m., Leave from Orientation
Join current students for dinner and conversation at a local restaurant in the University District. Family members and friends are welcome to attend. Bring $10-15 for dinner.

Wednesday, January 3rd
Wednesday Lunch
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., The HUB South Ballroom
A popular FIUTS tradition, Wednesday Lunch is a free lunch held each month. It is a great place to see friends and meet new ones! All UW students, staff, and Seattle community members are welcome to attend.

Saturday, January 6th
Seattle Scavenger Hunt
12 p.m. to approximately 6 p.m., Meet at the George Washington Statue
Explore Seattle's various neighborhoods! We'll divide you into groups and give you clues that will lead you to landmarks, shops, and more! Get to know your new surroundings in the University District, and explore the famous Pike Place Market for sightseeing in America's oldest public market. Bring your U-PASS, comfortable shoes, plus spending money for food.

Sunday, January 7th
Ice Skating at Bellevue Downtown Park

11:30 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m., Meet at the George Washington Statue
Enjoy an afternoon of ice skating at the region's largest open-air ice skating rink in Bellevue's Downtown Park. Warm up with seasonal food and beverages from the concessions stand and explore downtown Bellevue. Bring your U-PASS, money for ice skating ($14), plus spending money for food.  
 
 
 
 
 
ISS Tip of the Week

F-1 students: Can I work?

Your F-1 student status permits you to work on campus. You must maintain F-1 status to be eligible for this employment benefit; maintaining status means that you are a full-time registered student (except for approved exceptions) in good academic standing with a valid I-20.

After Orientation, FIUTS events help you stay connected with students and community members while exploring our beautiful region. Join us for FIUTS CulturalFest, a ski trip to Stevens Pass, a weekend getaway to Leavenworth, and more!
