Join us for a Tailgate Party!  Hot dogs, hamburgers, turkey burgers and other goodies!
There will even be a bean bag toss game and a football to toss around.  Maybe a game of touch football?

Cost: $20 which will include the fantasy football and the food!  What a deal!
And, it looks like Monmouth Reform wants to try to beat us in touch football since they lost to us in softball!

Everyone join us!

Shana Tova, everyone!  We hope you had a positive and meaningful High Holiday experience at TBM.

Now that the services and festivities are over, we are working hard to process your Kol Nidre appeals, as well as your orders for the new Machzors.  We’re doing the banking as quickly as possible, so please bear with us during this busy time.

Upcoming events include our Rummage Sale on November 6, new temple events from all of our committees and affiliates, adult education courses, Hanukkah and Youth Group activities!  Believe it or not, we’re even preparing for Purim!

We strive to help you with “all things TBM”, so feel free to contact us via phone or email if there’s anything we can do for you.

Thank You very much for all your support. We collected a lot of used soccer equipment that I am sure someone can use. We actually collected 6 new jerseys, 19 used jerseys, 9 new soccer balls, 16 used soccer balls, 37 pairs of used cleats, 1 pair of new shorts, 6 pairs of used shorts, 10 pairs of new socks, 20 pairs of used socks, 6 sets of used shin guards, 2 sets of used goalie gloves, and 2 used backpacks.  We actually were able to donate some of the gear locally and will be shipping out the rest to the Passback –US Soccer Foundation warehouse for distribution.

“You never know how something small you do today can affect someone else tomorrow.”
Security for Religious School and a BIG thank you!

We take security very seriously here at TBM.  During religious school, we have staff here on Wednesdays to buzz in the children, parents and teachers.  On Sundays, we are asking for volunteers from the congregation to help us by sitting in the office during school hours.  If you’re interested in volunteering for this on any given Sunday, please sign up on the link below or call the office at 732-222-3754.

Many thanks to those who have already volunteered!  We appreciate your volunteering!

Hineyu: It's Our Turn
TBM Listens

To understand, one has to listen. These are the requirements for a dialogue designed to build a promising future. As well, finding out what moves people is done by searching out new opportunities and chances.

Lori Goldstein is ready to listen and understand. A third generation member of Temple Beth Miriam, Lori is very involved in congregational life. She was the president of Sisterhood, on the Board of Education, and currently sits on the Executive Board of Temple Beth Miriam. For a few years, she wondered how to best identify the wants and needs of congregants.

A new project has made it’s way to Temple Beth Miriam, called Hineinu. Hineinu’s goal is to build a strong future for the congregation by giving each congregant the chance to speak their mind and be heard. The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) successfully conducted a listening campaign at 5 congregations. The result was the identification of a deeper understanding and relationship within the community.

Lori saw a chance for our congregation to get involved with the URJ project, and along with congregants Judy Berg and Joanne Edison, discussed bringing the campaign to Temple Beth Miriam. The TBM Listens Campaign is currently running from October through end of January. At each meeting, a host welcomes a small group of congregants to their home, and a facilitator will ask three key questions. These questions are designed to identify their views on the congregation’s future, and to identify opportunities, wants, and needs. A note taker will gather all information so that the results can be evaluated and put into action. Through this campaign, interests, wishes, and concerns can be identified, and a strong future for the congregation can be developed. For Lori, it is important that the synagogue is not made of programs, but of people. TBM Listens is a precious opportunity for each individual congregant to be heard and to be a part of building a strong congregation for a strong future.

Social Action Committee News

On Tuesday, October 4, the Social Action Committee brought Rosh Hashanah services to the seniors living at the Atria in Tinton Falls. Services were led by Robert Topper (after coaching from Milt Ziment) with help from Todd and Barry Edison, Larry Nagel, Pat Shapiro, and Elliot, Michael and Gayle Topper. At the end of services Michael Topper blew the shofar with Todd Edison serving as the caller. The evening ended with dinner at the Atria. Thanks to Paige and Joanne Edison for handing out the books and kippot to the seniors and guests, and to Steven Topper for helping gather and load the books.
May their memories be a blessing
