Where Are They Now: Vicar Marc
You may remember Vicar Marc Stutzel for his time as Children, Youth and Families Director, Communications Director, or one of the many other roles he took on at Advent. We found out what Marc was up to, and not surprisingly, it was a whole lot.

Pastor Marc now serves as the senior pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey since Fall 2014. Marc’s church makes an expansive impact on their community; they grow vegetables for a local food pantry, donate funds to the Lutheran Disaster Relief, and support the work of many local non-profits. About his church, Marc says, “The gospel makes a difference and I love being part of a community that understands that.” Currently, Marc is running a $300,000 Capital Campaign for new roofs in his church’s complex. You can read more about Christ Lutheran Church here.

Marc’s son Oliver, once a toddler roaming Advent's aisles, is now five. His other son, George, is three! According to Marc, George is a complete threenager. Marc says there are too many great moments at Advent to pick one, but instead says this:

“While at Advent, my faith and my friends, grew. That's the blessing everyone at Advent -- every Sunday School kid, confirmation student, young adult, new and long-time members of the church, and every senior at the mid-week worship service -- gave me.”
Immigration Film and Panel Discussion
It is our pleasure to announce a special showing of the documentary, “Immigrants for Sale,” sponsored by the ACLU, tomorrow, Tuesday, August 8 at 7:00pm in the Community Room of Advent Lutheran Church. The film will be followed by a panel discussion and general conversation. Please join us and invite your friends and neighbors. 
Covering the Organ
The scaffolding on Broadway, and the plastic covering the organ are due to construction on The Narragansett, our next door neighbor. They are refurbishing their brickwork, so our organ service company has covered the organ to prevent dust and dirt damaging it while workers walk on our roof and work above it. This has taken place at the Narragansett's expense. Unfortunately, we cannot use the organ while it is covered; we look forward to its sounds enriching our worship again sometime between mid-September and mid-October.

Summer Suppers Registration
Join us at our second to last Summer Suppers, this week on Wednesday, August 9!

With only two weeks left, be sure to stop by at 4:30pm for Toddler Time and 5:30 pm for the meal. Meet people who you would have otherwise never had the chance, because nothing is cooler than discovering a common interest with someone you've never spoken to before. Talk to someone young or old, joven o veijo. Learn a few words in a different language, or teach someone a few in your language. Come, and enjoy dessert in a community brought together by one God.

Summer Choir
While the Advent Chorale takes a break for summer, there are still opportunities to sing in worship! Summer Choir provides a more laid-back opportunity to sing at 11am worship with just one rehearsal the same morning at 10:15am. Summer Choir will sing this Sunday August 13. All are welcome to join!
