Timber Harvest at Heuser Park

The Schuylkill River West Trail at Heuser Park will be closed for the next six weeks. During this time, a timber harvest is taking place as part of the township’s Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation Plan. Learn more about our plan on our website.

McKaig Nature Center's Festival Under the Stars

The BCA awarded over $151,000 to 60 worthy recipients – 32 community organizations and 28 scholarships – including the GVS $10k scholarship to Trinity Pike and the RGW $5k scholarship to Elizabeth Kelly.

Yard Waste Collection

Now through October 26

The yard waste collection season will run through Friday, October 26, 2018. Pickup days will vary each week depending on workload and weather. We will make every effort to collect yard waste the same week the request is submitted. Fill out a request for service online or call the Public Works Department at 610-265-8465 before 12:00PM on the Tuesday of the week you wish to have your yard waste picked up. Please follow the collection guidelines.

Montgomery County Tire Collection

Saturday, June 9 | 9:00AM to 12:00PM 

Montgomery County Community College (Enter at 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422)

The Montgomery County Commissioners authorize these FREE events to prevent
tires from being improperly disposed of and to reduce breeding grounds for disease
carrying mosquitoes. The tires that are collected will be shredded and re-purposed by a
local business into products such as road surface material, highway sound barrier wall

Emerald Ash Borer: Phase II

The second phase of the township's Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation Plan at Heuser Park has begun. The Schuylkill River West Trail will be closed for the next six weeks for the duration of the timber harvest. Learn more about the plan. 

Public Presentation on the Spotted Lanternfly

Monday, June 11 | 7:30 to 8:30PM

Phoenixville Borough Hall, 352 Bridge St.

The Phoenixville Tree Advisory Commission and Penn State Extension Master Gardener Sally Sue Richmond will hold a presentation about this new invasive bug that is threatening our local horticulture. Attendees will learn what they can do to protect their properties and help stop the spread of the bug. Learn more on Phoenixville Borough's website.


Volunteer on a Citizen Board

There are 25 commissions, boards, and authorities currently serving Upper Merion Township. They are staffed by appointed citizens who assist in township government by advising, informing, and assisting the Board of Supervisors. These citizen volunteers provide a valuable service to the township.

CPR and AED Awareness Week



In 2007, Congress designated June 1-7 as National CPR and AED Awareness Week. This week, we want to highlight the importance of knowing CPR and learning how to use an AED. Over the last few days, we shared resources, information, and updates about our plan to become a HEARTSafe Community on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Family Law Informational Sessions

We'll be offering two informative sessions about family law: “Navigating the Family Law System” and “Who Gets What? Protecting Your Assets and Your Family During A Divorce.” Sessions will focus on the court process and procedure, and PA laws as they relate to divorce, custody, child support, and alimony. Excursion to Stoneleigh

We're hosting a free excursion to Stoneleigh, the former Haas Estate in Villanova, which is now a "natural" garden, open to the public. Transportation will be by carpool. We will meet in the upper parking lot (swim club) at 9:45AM for the short ride to Villanova. Sign up in the lobby and please indicate if you are willing to drive.

Roadway Restrictions & Alerts

Gulph Mills Country Club

Please be aware that the Gulph Mills Country Club, located at 200 Swedeland Road, is hosting a private fireworks display for a wedding on June 30. The fire company will be on standby for safety, and the display will end by 9:15PM.


Schuylkill Expressway Safety and Traffic Improvements

This project is the first phase of a long-range, multi-modal transportation plan designed to enhance travel along Interstate 76. PennDOT will install Variable Speed Limit and Queue Warning systems along Interstate 76 from U.S. 1 to just west of U.S. 202 in Philadelphia, Lower Merion and Upper Merion townships and West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County. Construction is expected to begin this summer and be completed in the summer of 2019. Learn more.


First Avenue Safety Improvements

The First Avenue Road Diet is a safety improvement project for motorists and pedestrians. The project will reduce the 4-lane road to 3 lanes that includes a lane of traffic in each direction, a dedicated center turn lane, and bicycle lanes or a wider shoulder. The project is expected to begin in June. Learn more.


US 422 E. Ramp to Route 23 Temporarily Closed

The ramp from EB US 422 to Route 23 (Valley Forge Rd) is scheduled to be closed through late summer for construction on a new fly-over ramp. Learn more.
