Summer Volunteer Social!

Join Boston Cares volunteers as we celebrate the end of the Summer of Service campaign where over 150 volunteers participated in 10 or more projects this summer! If you completed 10 or more projects, you will receive a snazzy new Boston Cares t-shirt!

Join us on Wednesday, September 12th from 6:00-8:00pm at The Point Tavern for a fun night! There will be light snacks, a cash bar, and the chance to meet other Boston Cares volunteers.

Please note: this is not a volunteering event. This is an opportunity to come meet other volunteers and celebrate all the amazing service you have done!

Help Prep Lumber for the Bed Project!

Thursday, September 6th

and Friday, September 7th

Multiple daytime shifts

Volunteers are needed to assist the Boston Cares corporate engagement team in preparing lumber for the Boston Cares Bed Project. This fall, corporate volunteers will be building over 150 new bed frames for children and families in need across Massachusetts. To get ready for these events, we'll be cutting all the pieces for the beds to size - headboards, sideboards, posts, slats and more! Volunteers with some experience using power saws are encouraged to sign up, although those without can assist with measuring the lumber as well.

Sort & Tag Clothes at Boomerangs for the AIDS Action Committee

Saturday, September 8th

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Volunteers will be sorting and tagging clothes for the various Boomerangs stores. It's a super fun group activity all for the good of Greater Boston.

Boomerangs is owned and operated by AIDS Action Committee of MA, Inc., New England's leading provider of HIV prevention and wellness services. All proceeds from Boomerangs support AIDS Action's work to prevent new infections, support those affected, and tackle the root causes of HIV/AIDS.

Distribute Food at East End House Pantry

Friday, September 7th

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Volunteers set up/clean up the pantry space, help receive weekly produce donations, and assist clients as they choose their own groceries from our available fresh produce and shelf-stable foods. After pantry is over volunteers also help set-up grocery bags for senior citizens or families in the EEH, depending on the day. People skills are a must for this opportunity! Our distribution is also an ideal time to employ or practice language skills - particularly Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Knit for the Greater Good for Youth in Need!

Monday, September 10th

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Utilize your knitting skills to help the greater good! Join other volunteers to knit or crochet hats, scarves, mittens, and other warm items for kids in Boston. Hats and other items are needed to fit kids of all ages (newborn to 18 years old). Don't know how to knit, or has it been awhile, and could use some assistance? We would be happy to teach you or assist with refreshing your knitting skills. Please note that you will need to bring your own supplies - yarn and needles.

New Volunteer Orientation Leader Training

Want to get other people excited about volunteering? Become a New Volunteer Orientation Leader today! NVO Leaders are vital to the work we do at Boston Cares. The quality of the orientation our new volunteers receive directly correlates with the number of active volunteers we are able to provide to our partners. A great orientation is essential to get our new volunteers excited and engaged with our community! The course will cover how to lead an Orientation – including how to get Orientation materials and the collection of activation fees from new volunteers, and tips for making sure each volunteer has a positive experience. | 617.422.0910 | 90 Canal St. Boston, MA Suite 610 02114
