Memorial Day Weekend
Usually, we are planning on who is going to meet which  boat to pick up Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat, filling bike tires for the cousins and choosing what restaurants to try to make a reservation for Memorial Day Weekend.
This year, it’s all about honoring past traditions while establishing new ones.  Though Aunt Pat won’t be here to make her potato salad, we can all still, while keeping each other safe and healthy, enjoy the sun, sit in the yard and grill away.
Time to Grill!
We’ve worked to cultivate friendships and relationships with so many of our vendors, and the Botticelli Family in Malden is top of the list. They use family recipes to make their marinades and marinated meats.
Dom’s Marinated Meats are a family tradition. We’ve carried them in the market for years, and they are definitely part of many island summer family meals.  Get your grill on with a package of their Steakhouse Chicken or Original Beef.
This year may not have the Memorial Day events and traditions that we know and love, but we can, separately and together, make new ones. Hoist the flag and raise a glass to all of our Service men and women, near and far.

Gardeners Rejoice!
The Garden Center Greenhouses look especially lush lately with loads of beautiful ferns and tropicals!
Our terra cotta is back in stock! Back from their stay at home orders, Burley Clay of Pennsylvania has sent us our long-awaited terra cotta pottery! We have expanded the darker marbled clay series this year (pictured above, left) as well as added the “Granite” line, lighter in color with great marbling. We also have some great glazed pottery that’s made right in Pennsylvania.  We are already picking our favorites here in the Garden Center and dreaming about the great planters we can make!
We have fabulous ferns in hanging baskets; 6” and 10” pots. Also Majesty palms, Hibiscus and small Ficus trees.
Fernanda is bringing up new plants every day, filling the Garden Center with glorious Summer colors. We have plenty of classic geraniums for Memorial Day. Geraniums have been popular with gardeners for generations.
These tough, full-sun plants will give you a big 'bang for your buck' as they bloom all summer with proper care.  Water when dry, feed every couple weeks (follow the label directions) pinch off the dead blossoms, and your window boxes and containers will look great for months.
