Santa's Helpers

Thursday | 4:30-8 p.m.
WFAA's Santa's Helpers is celebrating its 49th year of collecting holiday toys for needy children throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth counties of Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton. McKinney's drop off will take place at the McKinney Performing Arts Center on Thursday.
WFAA's Pete Delkus will be accepting donations of unwrapped toys for children aged infant through teen.

All Star Christmas Concert
Friday | 8-9:30 p.m. | Courtroom Theater | $17-22
This concert is a one of a kind performance by maestro Jason Lim and the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra. Joining the orchestra are the William Foley piano trio, Jason Davis on Saxophone, Candace Miller, Keyreel Raskolenko on violin and Ben Katzen on cello. Also featured are special guest stars Maylee Thomas, Mayor George Fuller, Andy Timmons and the Maylee Thomas Band.

19th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights
Saturday | 6:30-8 p.m. | Downtown Square | Free

Celebrate the season with holiday magic on the square at the McKinney Rotary Club’s 19th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights. Emceed by McKinney’s own Johnny B., the parade will include beautifully decorated floats, high school drill teams and bands, antique fire trucks, and of course, Santa! This year’s parade theme is “Christmas Around the World." Free to attend this event.

 

It's a Wonderful Life Radio Stage Play
Friday-Saturday | The Hub, 102 W. Lamar
First United Methodist Church of McKinney members recreate a 1946-style radio broadcast of Frank Capra's Christmas classic, "It's a Wonderful Life," complete
with authentic commercials and songs from the time
period. Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Caroling on the Square
Saturday | 4:30-5:30 p.m.| Hall Memorial Library
Join the city's annual Caroling on the Square event and sing holiday songs while walking through McKinney's historic downtown square. Participants will meet at the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library, 101 E. Hunt
St., to become familiar with the songs. 

 

Second Saturday

Join merchants in downtown McKinney for Candlelight Shopping and a fun Window Contest. Stroll the square, magically lit with hundreds of candles, plus vote for your favorite window display. And while you're downtown,
enjoy the annual Parade of Lights!

 

At the HEARD NATURAL SCIENCE MUSEUM & WILDLIFE SANCTUARY | 1 Nature Place

Dinosaurs LiveThru Feb. 18 | Included with general admission
Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and nine new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the nature trails. The exhibit gives families a fun, educational activity to enjoy together, and makes for great photos. See the dinosaurs move and hear them roar! Play area dinosaurs will be available as well. This year's exhibit also features an outdoor fossil dig. Second Saturday Bird Walk

Saturday | 8-9 a.m. | Included with general admission
Monthly Bird Walks last 1.5 hours (with optional extended time if some participants are interested). Prairie, woodland, and wetland habitats are included in these walks. Included with admission and free for Heard Museum members, these bird walks are intended to help beginning and intermediate birders with bird spotting and identification techniques.

Rani Verma is an impressionist artist who finds innovative ways to deploy timeless materials - oil, watercolor, and acrylics - in her work.
