Explore the local art galleries, listen to great local and regional talent and taste cuisine from some of the area's best eateries. Many places in Downtown McKinney will keep their doors open from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. every second Saturday of the month.

2nd Saturday Jazz at fiLTER(ed): A variety of musicianship and Jazz styles (not to mention fun sing-a-longs and guest performances) are sure to please varietal artistic preferences. At fiLTER(ed) Coffee, 218 E. Louisiana.
 
 
 
 
Music in Motion (Saturday)
Set indoors at the elegant Church St. Auditorium (306 N. Church St.), this unique event offers an eclectic mix of musicians, artists and poets performing and creating live. Music performances will include jazz and classical chamber ensembles, classic swing, a touch of bluegrass, and more. Painters, sculptors, potters, photographers, printmakers, wood turners, and jewelers will share their work. Purveyors of fine food will offer lunch and dessert. An evening reception for the Historic Preservation Calendar Art Exhibit will be provided by Harvest, a farm to table seasonal kitchen in downtown McKinney, with dessert and coffee by Nothin’ Bundt Cakes and fILTER(ed). Music in Motion is funded in part with a grant from the City of McKinney Arts Commission. Noon-9 p.m. Free admission.

Dinosaurs Live! (Open thru Feb. 21)
Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and eight new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the Heard Museum nature trails. Included in admission to the museum.

​Guided Trail Walk (Saturday) Experience the ecology, geology, flora and fauna of the Heard grounds. Led by trained guides, you will spend 45-60 minutes hiking our unique landscape. 2-3 p.m. 

2nd Saturday Bird Walk (Saturday) These walks are intended to help beginning and intermediate birders with bird spotting and identification techniques. Reservations are not required; however, make sure to arrive on time. 8-9 a.m. 
 
 
 
Beginning Jewelry Making (Saturday)
If you've ever thought about making jewelry, this is the perfect class for you to learn the basics. Make a necklace and earrings, start to finish. At Art on the Veranda, 105 W. Louisiana. Class fee is $95 (includes all supplies). 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 469-406-7704 to reserve a spot in the class.
 
 
 
Wood Wars Collegiate Club Baseball Tournament (Friday-Sunday) 
Wood Wars is a wood bat only, 20-team, collegiate club baseball tournament sponsored the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) each Fall. Teams participating include University of Texas, University of North Texas, SMU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas Tech, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Missouri State, Houston, UTSA, Lone Star College, Rice, Stephen F Austin, Tulane University, Lamar, and many more. At The Ballfields at Craig Ranch Fields 7, 8, 9, & 10. 6151 Alma Road. $10 for day passes, $20 for tournament passes. Free for Active Duty Military with Military ID's.
