Highlands Coalition Visual Media Seminar
at Hawk Pointe Golf Outing, May 11, 2017
During the Highlands Coalition’s Golf Outing on May 11th the Coalition will conduct a Visual Media Seminar open to anyone who wishes to attend the event but not play golf. Participants will video or photograph the opening of the outing. Then return to the clubhouse for a lecture/demonstration by our award winning professionals. After that those participating will go onto the course to capture shots of the golfers, the flora and fauna found in abundance on the course or anything that seems interesting. Then they will return to the clubhouse and prepare a video/photo presentation that will be shown at lunch. Lunch and open bar will be made available to all participants. The fee including lunch and open bar is $200, a tax deductible donation.
Meet Your Seminar Leaders
Dwight Hiscano is a photographer who has dedicated a good part of his decades-long career to capturing our state's landscapes on film and digital sensor. With particular emphasis on the rugged landscapes of the Highlands, where his family has owned land for over a century, Dwight has channeled his efforts toward using photography to promote the preservation of endangered landscapes. A former trustee for the New Jersey chapter of the Nature Conservancy, Dwight regularly volunteers for, and has donated images to, a number of state and national conservation organizations. Widely published and highly collected, Dwight's work has been featured in numerous exhibits, including the Nature's Best exhibit at the Smithsonian and the recent National Geographic sponsored International Mountain Summit in Italy. His book, New Jersey, the Natural State, was published by Rutgers University Press.
Elliott Ruga has been advocating for the protection of Highlands natural and cultural resources since 2007. Aside from his policy work on national, regional, county and municipal levels and as a spokesperson for the NJ Highlands Coalition, Ruga is also a filmmaker and holds 2 national Emmy Awards. Today, Ruga produces advocacy videos for the Coalition.
