The Journey Begins this Wednesday

Our Lenten journey begins this Wednesday . . .

. . . with the humbling reminder that our own life on Earth is temporary and transient. We are told, "From dust you came, and to dust you shall return," as the cool ashes meet our forehead. That can be hard to hear.

But this also reminds us that God's story is ever expanding SO far and wide beyond our own -- and yet we are an invaluable part of it. We are valued, loved, called, and needed.

It is with this knowledge that we go into the wilderness with the refugee, with the drought victim in search of water, with the migrant, with Jesus.

This Lent, join us as we spend 40 days in the wilderness with Jesus.

Bilingual Congregational Lunch

This Sunday, February 18 | 12pm | Basement Fellowship Hall

Mark your calendar for our bilingual congregational lunch February 18, a time of fellowship and friendship for our whole congregation, English and Spanish speaking, to gather around the same table (at the same time) and live into community together.

The whole meal will be vegetarian and vegan! It will also be potluck style, so come share your favorite vegetarian dish. Or, if you're usually a devoted meat-eater, consider trying your skills at something new. Are you willing to bring a dish? Click here to sign up.

We will also be celebrating our new members with a cake! Join us in welcoming them, and getting to know new friends.

This Saturday, February 17 | 10:30am

Terris "Terry" Krueger has accepted a call to his first congregation, St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, Nebraska, and he is being ordained here at Advent this month! Some of you may know or recognize Terris from the time he spent at Advent doing his seminary field work, and later serving as our interim office administrator.

We are so happy to celebrate this great milestone with him, and to see him begin his pastoral ministry. Terris recorded a quick video inviting you to his ordination! Watch it here.
