Veterans Day Observances

The City of McKinney hosts two events honoring U.S. veterans at the Veterans Memorial Park in Craig Ranch. Saturday at 10 a.m., the event includes a missing man formation flyover, patriotic music and parade of colors. At sundown on Sunday, the event includes the reading of the names on the Wall of Honor followed by the playing of TAPS at 5:26 p.m. 6053 Weiskopf Avenue.

Party on the Patio

The E-Flat Porch Band performs at the McKinney Community Center in the outdoor pavilion and patio. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy live music at this free event. 2001 S. Central Expwy. 7-9 p.m.

McKinney Art Studio Tour (MAST)

Saturday-Sunday | Multiple Locations | FREE
See artists at work in their studios for a personal and unique perspective on their creative process. The 2018 tour includes 17 studios of painters, potters, sculptors, wood carvers and turners, photographers, mixed media artists, and stagecraft and theatrical design. MAST is open to art lovers of all ages. Heard-Craig Center for the Arts (205 W. Hunt) is the reception center. Map available online. Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, Noon-5 p.m.



Red White & Big Band Free Concert

The Courtroom Theater will be swinging with some of the best in Big Band hits for our 4th Annual Veteran’s Salute in the historic McKinney Performing Arts Center. Free event; the group requests that attendees reserve a free ticket.

Cultural District Designation Celebration
Saturday | MPAC West Steps | 4 p.m.| FREE
Elected officials will make a proclamation in honor of McKinney's new Cultural District designation. Signage will be unveiled, and attendees will be able to view renderings of new public art projects in process for Chestnut Commons and Mitchell Park. 


Second Saturday on the Square

Saturday | Downtown McKinney | 5-8 p.m. or later

Every Second Saturday, historic Downtown McKinney comes alive with on-the-street entertainment, late-night shopping, dining, and something for everyone to enjoy. Snacks and cocktails at participating businesses. November's theme is Ladies Night Out!


Veronica Swift with The TI Jazz Band & The GDYO Jazz Band
Sunday | MPAC Courtroom Theater | $20-25  | 6:30-8 p.m.

New York-based vocalist Veronica Swift makes her first DFW appearance and performs with two local big bands - The Texas Instruments Jazz Band and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Jazz Band. She morphs from blues to ballads to swing, putting her own unique stamp on each. The Faces We Hide Behind

Mercy loves to paint with an abstract view of the world. She is often heard saying she channels a dearly departed artist. Her latest paintings show faces lurking below the surface. Can you find them? Free. Saturday, 1-8 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-5 p.m.

Dinosaurs Live | Thru Feb. 18

Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and nine new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the nature trails. This year's exhibit features an dig for outdoor fossils. The trail is jogging stroller friendly. (Photo: Uncle_Bekah)

Second Saturday Bird Walks
During these walks, learn bird spotting, identification techniques and more. It's a great chance for new birders to be introduced to this area of study. Reservations not required. 8-9 a.m.

Nature Storytime | Friday

This weekly storytime focuses on nature-related stories to engage children in learning and an appreciation and care of nature. Included with general admission, 10:30-11 a.m.


8Phil Keaggy Live at The Sanctuary

The Guitar Sanctuary presents Phil Keaggy with special guests Maylee Thomas & Friends. Phil will be doing a special solo performance, with a mix of both acoustic and electric playing. Tickets available online. Food and bar service available. Doors open at 7 p.m.


Bad Boys and Desperados of Old McKinney

Saturday | Chestnut Square  | 315 S. Chestnut St.

Travel back in time and see the sites of old McKinney where lawlessness prevailed from a trolley! The likes of Frank and Jesse James, Bonnie and Clyde, Belle Starr and Sam Bass, among others, are featured in this travel tell all. Proceeds benefit the McKinney Heritage Alliance. 10-11:15 a.m. $10 per person.

Adriatica Village Wine Walk

Enjoy strolling through beautiful Adriatica, tasting delectable wines at various village restaurants. At check-in, each person receives a keepsake wine glass, a wine walk map, and three tickets for glasses of wine at participating restaurants. The first 50 also receive a Wine Walk T-shirt! $25. Louisiana Gumbo Fest

Wild Birds Unlimited Events

Meet Andrea Holmes, Local Artist (Friday): Local artist Andrea Holmes will be on hand to paint. Andrea’s signature style is characterized by a common vintage theme; focus on Friday will be birds. Noon to 3 p.m.

Finch Frenzy (Friday-Saturday): Stop by Wild Birds Unlimited Friday and Saturday to pick up a free two-pound bag of Finch Blend. 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Purple Martins (Saturday): Learn tips to help understand purple martins' housing, nest monitoring and the pre-migrations roost. 9-10 p.m.

Largest CPR Class Ever (shown, Friday)
During the November 9 McKinney vs. Boyd High School game, the McKinney Fire Department will offer the largest CPR class ever. Learn "hands-only" CPR with 12,000 other attendees. 7 p.m. McKinney ISD Stadium, 4201 S. Hardin.

After-Hours Networking Event (Thursday) 

Stop by Eldorado Country Club for networking and to meet the McKinney Chamber's newest members. Free and no membership required to attend. 2604 Country Club Dr. 4:30-6:30 p.m.
