Online Assembly 2020 Video Highlights Now Available

Video recordings of several key events at the Assembly are now available. These include Bishop Zeiser’s sermon during the opening Worship Service, Vice President Kristen Edelman-Weiner’s report, Presiding Bishop Eaton’s Message, the 50/40/10 Celebration, and Bishop Elect Christopher deForest’s remarks. Synod Office Closed for Thanksgiving

The synod office will be closed for Thanksgiving on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and Thursday, Nov. 26. It will also be closed for the Christmas holiday beginning Wednesday, Dec. 23, and will reopen again on Monday, Dec. 4.

 
 
 
 
 
Upcoming Events


Wednesdays at 2:00 PM. Being Church: Weekly Online Gathering for ELCA Leaders. You are invited to join this weekly online gathering designed to provide encouragement and support for ELCA leaders across the church. View the Zoom invitation. Participants will hear topical presentations related to how we are called to be Church, as well as have an opportunity to be in small group discussions with an ELCA group coach facilitating the conversation. You can find a list of upcoming topics and presenters on the home page of our website: https://www.elcacoaching.org. January 23, 2021. Learning Ministries Day 2021 is Going On-Line! Plan to join us Saturday January 23, 2021 when our keynote speaker will be Dr. Barbara Rossing, author of "The Rapture Exposed." Dr. Rossing will speak on "Journeys Through Revelation," and a number of workshops will be offered as well. More details to follow, so please check the synod website for more information.

► Dan Brettell (St. Paul III, Easton; pastordanbrettell@ptd.net) and his wife, Patti’s 7 month-old granddaughter, Sabella Brettell, is recovering from her surgery and doing well so far.

► Oliver Brown (St. James, Hobbie; bskindeer@aol.com ) is recovering from back surgery.

► Carl Filer (Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Leesport; carlwfiler@verizon.net) and his wife, Barbara, are both at home dealing with health issues.

► Harry Goos (retired; rhgoos@comcast.net) is receiving physical rehabilitation after a fall.

► Robert Hughes (retired; hughesrobertg@gmail.com) is receiving chemotherapy while battling cancer.

► Diane Laine, wife of Larry Laine (Trinity, Bangor; laineparallel@gmail.com) is dealing several health related issues.

► Sandy Richards, wife of Tom Richards (retired; masterpastor@verizon.net), is dealing with a variety of health issues.

► Luther Routte (retired) is recuperating at home after heart surgery.

► Nancy (“Gidget”) Schwartz (wife of Don Schwartz, St. Andrew, Summit Lawn; dj1743schwartz19@yahoo.com) is now home from the hospital and is receiving out-patient treatments for cancer.

Young Adults in Global Mission Applications Now Open

Applications for the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program are now being accepted, and you can invite young adults on this journey abroad for the 2021-2022 program year. If you know young adults ages 21 to 29, this is the time to reach out. Encourage them to apply for YAGM by the deadline of Jan. 15, 2021. Talk to them personally about what this opportunity will mean for their faith, identity, career and understanding of God’s work in the world.

Christ Hamilton United is seeking a Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry. The combined role would be to oversee and organize activities for the Church’s Youth Ministry and Christian Education programs. Additionally, the Candidate will be active in developing the lay leadership to strengthen the Church’s ability to deliver its programs to its members and to the Community. The position would work with the Pastor, the Church’s leadership, the Christian Education committee and other committees as appropriate. The Position would be for a 20 to 30 hour weekly schedule. The salary and hours will be commensurate based upon the experience of the successful candidate and the Church’s ability to conduct activity in our current environment. Allegheny, Mohnton seeks an Organist and Choir Director who will oversee the traditional music ministries of the church in cooperation with the pastor. The music leader will organize adult choir, bell choirs, and special music as needed and warranted to engage and inspire Christian faith beliefs through music. We are looking for someone to partner with us in this role. The Organist and Choir Director with also work with our Praise Team leader and other staff members to support the congregation. /T Interim Youth Ministry Leader (9-1)

to Emmanuel, Bath, seeks an Interim Youth Ministry Leader. Candidate will coordinate, direct, and facilitate Sunday School and youth group events via internet or in person based on safety of the youth. He/she will be able to assist our youth in growing their faith in Jesus Christ. This includes curriculum design and teacher development to complete these tasks. Candidate will meet bi-weekly with the Pastor to review his/her curriculum and planning ideas. Candidate may. assist Pastor with confirmation events if requested and fits into the weekly allowance of hours. Candidate must communicate with the secretary on the following months' plans by the 20th of the current calendar month. Candidate must have a commitment to Jesus Christ with a clear understanding of the Lutheran perspective of the Christian faith and willingness to adhere to ELCA doctrine and practices. Formal education in theology and/or education is preferred. Candidate should be organized, show excellent communication skills, and be motivating to the youth of our congregation. Background check and appropriate clearances are required. Work hours will be 10-13 hours per week with a monthly stipend of $834 and 2 weeks vacation. Candidate will present a weekly summary of his/her hours to the secretary with a brief description of tasks he/she worked on. Due to the current limitations with COVID-19, candidate should be able to work remotely unless otherwise requested by the Pastor or HR committee. New Hanover, Gilbertsville, seeks a Director of Music Ministry, who is the principal musician of the congregation. He/she is responsible for coordinating the orders of service and liturgical music with the Pastor as well as selecting hymns for all services. This position selects and rehearses choral music for the vocal choirs – (2) children’s and (2) adults – as well as coordinates with the Handbell Choir Director and the GRACE Praise Band leader to develop a welcoming and inclusive God centered atmosphere for all generations.
