Help End Hunger by 2030.
Our church is raising funds to help the Conference add a third date for youth to package meals for Rise Against Hunger.  These meals will feed hungry people around the world.  In just four years, East Ohio Youth have packed 250,000 meals for people in need -- and they'd like to do more. We've reach silver level sponsorship already by collecting $250 for the cause.  Can we go gold?  You can help.  Learn how here...

Sunday Morning Classes for All Ages

The Sunday morning education hour (at 10 o’clock) is an opportunity to explore your faith and to meet and get to know a smaller group of your church family. Visitors are always welcome in every class! Every Sunday features classes for children, youth and adults. This fall, we have two options for adults during the education hour. (See below.)

Book Study: The Great Spiritual Migration

by Brian McClaren.  September 16- November 4

If you have ever felt like you were on the outside looking in at a church, or if you have ever struggled to make sense of your faith, this book is for you.  Join Jenny and your faithful friends to read, discuss and share in this eight week study.  Books are available on the counter in the Parlor. Buy one to keep for $15 or borrow and return one at the end of the study.

Theology and the Arts With Pastor Clark

Christians are made in the image of God the Creator, destined to create music, poetry, fiction, dance and other works of art. Please consider joining in our discussion as we examine how much our theology informs the arts of our popular culture. Please join with Pastor Clark and friends in room 301 during our Sunday School hour for a thought provoking study.
Biking to church this Sunday? Our new bike racks are ready for you!  There's a new bike pad on the east side of the church, along Brecksville Road.  Phase one is complete, and we hope to eventually add a bike repair station and a water fountain.  If you bike to church, snap a picture and share it with us!
Church Council Reports Due
In preparation for our Church Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 2, Committee Chairs are asked to submit committee reports to Melanie in the church office by tomorrow, Friday, September 21.  Reports will be compiled and available next Sunday!
September 30.  UMW will have a bake sale Sunday, September 30th between services to benefit RAHAB and their need for recovery bibles. If you can donate baked goods please bring them pre-packaged to the kitchen on Saturday the 29th between noon and 3pm, so they can be priced at that time. Items will be welcomed on Sunday morning also. Items that sell well are brownies & cookies - 6 per package, quick breads, smaller pies and cakes, and cupcakes. Your support will be appreciated. If you’d like to help please email Lynn Hobzek at
Let's make some music!
Join our new Music Director, Malik Khalfani, on Thursday evenings for Bell Choir or (and?) Chancel Choir.  No experience is necessary and friends are welcome. Let's learn together! Questions? E-mail
We've got the kids, the fun, and the service project -- all we need is the food!  You don't have to be a cook to host a youth dinner.  Kids like take out, too! All youth dinners are for all kids grades six through twelve, and provide a time for our kids to be together in community.  Want to help?  Reply to this message or e-mail or call Dana: or 440-526-8938 ext. 237
IS THERE SUCH THING A "TOO MANY PIANOS"? YES! The Trustees are in the process of narrowing our inventory of pianos.  Do you know that we have eleven pianos in the building?  Pianos need to be regularly tuned and climate controlled.  To be able to better care for the pianos that we use and need, we are looking for a new home for this beautiful 1947 Kimball Console Piano.  It has a mahogany case and was recently appraised at $1000.  We were told that it would be an excellent piano for a student.  To help fund repair of other pianos, we are asking $500 or best offer.  This piano is currently located in the Chapel (and will be replaced by a better piano already in our inventory.)  If you know someone who may be interested, please share this information with them. Reply to this e-mail if you'd like more information yourself - or if you have any questions. Thank you!
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps families make ends meet by stretching their grocery budgets. Sometimes called "food stamps," those few SNAP dollars every week make all the difference in the world when it comes to putting nutritious meals on the table. But SNAP can only be used to purchase food.  Other necessities, like paper towels, napkins and tissues are not part of this program.  We can help fill this need by providing these items for our brothers and sisters through Brookside Food Center in Cleveland.  If you’re moved to help, bring your donations to the first floor collection bin by Thursday, October 18.  Thank you!
Mid-Week Bible Study with Pastor Clark
Begins Wednesday, September 26 at 7 pm.
Join Pastor Clark and friends as we explore the book of Acts. Books are $10. If you can’t afford a book right now, our Corinthian Fund will cover the cost. Reply to this e-mail to sign up , or sign up in the Lobby on Sunday.
Support Bike Ministry - Buy a T-shirt
Do you have your bike ministry t-shirt yet?  Help tell people that we've been giving spokes to folks since 2015 - and help buy bike parts for bike repairs.  Shirts are $20.  We have S, M, L, and XL shirts.  They're in the lobby alcove.  Sample shirts are hung so you can see the sizes. Pick up a rolled shirt in your size to take home.  Thank you! Reply to this e-mail if you'd like us to set one aside for you!
Bring your old newspapers, magazines, and (broken down) cardboard to church. THANK YOU for supporting hunger ministry by recycling at Brecksville United Methodist Church! This year to date, we've recycled over 37,223 pounds of paper!
Would you like to help share the word of God in worship?  Pastor Clark  provides the liturgy and you give it voice!  We will send you a copy early in the week so you will have time to review what you’ll be reading.  Sign up in the lobby, see Pastor Clark, or reply to this message for details.
