Looking for something special just in time for Mother's Day? Then join us for the “Sorta” Shibori one-day workshop! You will learn the basic techniques of Shibori, an ancient Japanese resist-dye technique that involves creasing, folding, dyeing, stitching, binding, and knotting.
Where does the wine come in? We will wrap and tie fabric around wine bottles instead of the traditional bamboo poles to create beautiful and well-defined patterns.
Materials including a silk scarf will be provided, but feel free to bring along some pre-washed light colored natural fabrics to experiment with (cotton, linen, etc.).
Please Note: Using dyes can be messy. Please wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting stained and bring a pair of RUBBER GLOVES (due to individual skin sensitives we are unable to supply gloves). Wine and nibbles will be provided as we share our beautiful fabrics at the close the workshop, but please bring a bag lunch.
To Register: Checks made payable to Museum of Art – DeLand
