We start the day in the Hayloft with a free Spiritual Awakening Yoga Class from 9 am to 10 am.
Meanwhile, out in the Garden Center, Hilary will be leading a talk about Roses and boy, if you've never seen her talk about plants, you ARE NOT going to want to miss this! She is a riot! A riot that's absolutely chock full of knowledge!

From 11 am to 3 pm, we will be welcoming an intimate group of holistic health, wellness, & beauty practitioners up in the Hayloft, where they will share their services
and products with fair goers. For a full list check out our Instagram post!

Also at 11, our Veggie Production Manager, Andrew Spollett, will be leading farm tours down into the Greenhouses for a behind-the-scenes sneak peak of all the green things we have growing, with plenty of time for questions.

At 11:30 am, learn all about Seed starting with Paige, our Assistant Garden Center Manager, out in the Garden Center!
Sample some great snacks from our bakery like their Vegan Blueberry Coconut Scones, Breakfast Cookies, or Banana Bran Muffins and wash them down with a taste of our AquaviTea Kombucha on draft.

Spring has Sprung, the Grass has Ris', I Wonder what that Buggy is?

This time of year you'd like to think you are safe from insects going after your plants, but there’s always something out there! Winter Moths are the first pests to show up in spring. The caterpillar stage feeds on leaf buds of trees.  Fruit trees like Apple and Crabapple are favorites, as well as Maple and White Oak. The caterpillars are very tiny and get INSIDE the swelling leaf buds, (which in apples & crabapples contain the blossoms) and then eat their way out. This causes poor blooming and a small harvest. Winter moths can be treated pre-emergent in late winter with Horticultural oil sprayed on the trunks. Caterpillars can be treated with either Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) or Spinosad (found in Captain Jack’s Dead Bug).
Spring is also time to start defending your roses from black spot, powdery mildew, aphids, and mites. Once you see the leaf nodes start to swell and in most cases look a bit red, treat with Bayer 3-in-1 or Bonide Rose Rx every 6 weeks. Both of these products are systemic which are absorbed through the roots. If your roses are prone to these types of pests and diseases, starting treatment early gives your plants an advantage.
Bartlett’s staff can help you identify and treat for insects and diseases. We carry a range of products that are safe for the environment but get the job done!

Our imaginations run wild when we visit the planter display outside. Pictured above left; whimsical shell planters  beg to be planted with succulents, draping and heavy with blooms, and the bone white vase planters above are ready for a sun drenched porch a-wash in vividly colored begonias or bougainvillea. Pictured below left, our new Grey Pots collection...just gorgeous! Below to the right are Hilary's very limited selection of vase fountains...beautifully slender, brightly glazed vase fountains are a stunning addition to any landscape. Nestle one into existing flowering trees or plan a garden with one as the centerpiece. This fountain is sure to add tranquility & delight for summers to come.
The Greenhouses are Magical this Time of Year!
Pansies, begonias, violas, irish moss, geraniums, & fuscias fill the space with lush green leaves and blossoms. Soon enough they will head to the garden center and then on to Nantucket gardens.
Below, Bok Choy and tender Lettuces are happy and growing away in the Hydro House!

Who's Your Farmer?  Meet Our Staff!
Brett Lancaster
Brett Lancaster is one of the first smiles you see as you walk into the market. He is originally from the coastal town of Brunswick, Maine.  He went to college at the University of Maine and studied Childhood Development.  Brett first came to the island in the spring of 2018, with his good friend Keegan Bartlett. His first impression of the island was how beautiful it was! The great shops, restaurants and beaches certainly didn’t disappoint.  Brett spent his first summer working with the Dylan Perry Summer Camp.  Once his season with the camp was finished, Brett joined the deli crew here at the Farm.  For now, he is still a fixture on the Deli. However, for the summer of 2019 Brett is breaking out from behind the counter and joining the Produce Team in the Market! Brett most looks forward to seeing something new every day at work, be it a new customer, worker, product or scenario. He appreciates that the farm is constantly changing and evolving! When he isn’t at work, Brett loves to be on the beach with friends, relaxing at home, or going to grab a drink and listen to music and just having fun with friends.  Fun fact about Brett, this winter he took off and drove 11,000 miles, across 26 states in just over 8 weeks with Keegan Bartlett. If you have the chance he highly recommends it!  Look forward to seeing Brett around the Farm this year either on the deli or the market floor.  You can’t miss him! Between his height and his infectious smile, he’s easy to spot!
