Red White & BOOM (Saturday)
​​Don your stars and stripes and wave your flags at McKinney's Star-Spangled July 4th Celebration. On the schedule for the day long event are:
  • Hometown Parade at 10 a.m. on the downtown square.
  • Classic Car, Truck and Cycle Show from 1 to 5 p.m. just south of the square on Tennessee at Davis. 
  • Concert & Fireworks at 7:30 p.m. at Craig Ranch Soccer Complex. Families will enjoy inflatables, laser tag, video game trucks, food trucks and more. This year's concert headliner is McKinney's own Hollie Cavanagh, American Idol finalist. Fireworks display begins at 9:45 p.m.
 
 
 
 
 
(Saturday-Aug. 8)
McKinney Main Street and the City of McKinney invite children of all ages to explore everything the community has to offer with the new Downtown McKinney Kids Explorers Club. Kids can pick up their FREE club kit on July 4 following the Red White and BOOM! hometown parade at the East Louisiana Street Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. After that, kits are available from the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee. Details are available online.
 
 
 
 
 
(Continuing thru Sept. 30)
Walk among free-flying native butterflies and other pollinators in the Heard Museum's Native Texas Butterfly House & Garden. The butterfly house includes native species, which vary by season and what is available from suppliers. Our butterfly garden is filled with host plants that naturally attract these lovely creatures. Included in the cost of admission to The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Place. See website for hours.
