Come to the cozy, quaint Yellow Chair Makery in downtown Springfield to celebrate both Mother's Day weekend, mother nature, and more! JRBP Membership & Marketing Manager, Christa Gammon, will be co-teaching crafts alongside her mother for this special event.

Event will begin at 6:00pm with a 15-minute member meeting discussing the JRBP membership program statistics, updates, & will announce a new member benefit alongside River Hills Traveler magazine.

Then enjoy guided crafts made from plastic bags between 6:15pm and 7:30pm. Also learn about single-use plastics, plastic recycling/upcycling, and how to change your daily plastic consumption habits.

Snack included. FREE & OPEN to JRBP Members and their guests. Mothers/grandmothers/mother-figures will receive a special gift in celebration of Mother’s Day weekend.

Join fellow JRBP members along this beautiful, urban 1-mile stretch of restored stream located in Springfield. JRBP Project Manager, Brent Stock, will discuss the restoration process and project, while demoing kick-netting (a technique used to collect & count macroinvertebrates to learn about & track stream health). This urban stream continues to get healthier and more diverse with plants and wildlife each year! 

Additionally, our guest expert speaker, Brian Edmond from the Missouri Prairie Foundation, will discuss native plants, pollinators, and more on our leisurely morning stroll!

We will take to our beloved James River for this year’s annual Member Float. Borrow a JRBP canoe or bring your own boat to this leisurely float (canoes available for reservation on a first-come, first-serve basis). Have your own boat? Bring it!

Don’t forget to wear your best water quality inspired hat to win the coveted “Hat Match” award! Last float’s winner was Stacey H. with her “no-hydrilla” inspired hat.
Light snacks included. Please bring along your own river friendly lunch. This will be a fun float with chances to get to know other JRBP members and learn more about the James River.
