Award Winning Barn Conversion
Photography by Mirrored Image Photography        Design by Archiplicity
This Antique Barn was given a new purpose when it was converted into an indoor sports court for this active New England Family.

The plans from Archiplicity focused  on improving the Barn's exterior from the rear while maintaining it's historical curb appeal on the street facing elevations. Two floors were combined into one larger space giving the needed height for the full size Basketball backboard & hoop.

The interior walls are covered in nickel gap white oak,  finished with Rubio Oil to hold up to the wear and tear of an indoor sports court. Function is balanced well with many stylish details.  Wooden slat chandeliers, a new large gable window that floods the space with natural light, custom milled poplar pre-painted shiplap ceiling and sliding exterior barn doors all help to elevate the space to be sporty but stylish!

Skylights & Sun Tunnels
Skylights are a great way to bring natural light into an otherwise dark space. The latest technology in skylights has them fully automated with touch screen remote controls and water sensors that can automatically close the unit if rain is detected.

The unit in the photo above brings much needed natural light into this bathroom with no windows.

In the case where there is a space restriction or limited budget sun tunnels are another viable option. They work by channeling the sunlight down a much smaller cylindrical tube into the finished space. In our COTY Award winning Bath remodel we used 3 sun tunnels that were finished to mimic the look of full skylights but allowed us to work around obstructions in the attic space.

There's something about the warmer weather that makes us all crave seafood. Eric & Stacy satisfied their craving recently with these fresh and light fish cakes made by a good friend of theirs. The flaky, tender fish is brightened by the lemon and herbs and Stacy just had to have the recipe! Make a big batch and freeze them for a quick a ready seafood dinner any night of the week!
