Electronic Meetings

In this time of social distancing, many groups are using Zoom, Skype, Facetime, or some other form of electronic meeting. Pennsylvania law allows for non-profits to conduct an official board meeting using electronic means unless prohibited by the organizations own bylaws. The ELCA model constitution expressly permits electronic meetings for congregation councils (C12.13), and congregation meetings (C10.08). The provision for congregation meetings specifically requires simultaneous aural communication. Note, however, that these provisions are not mandatory provisions, so each entity must check its own constitution and bylaws.

Lutheran Disaster Response – Eastern PA
Help to Meet Gaps Related to COVID-19 and Hunger

Lutheran Disaster Response – Eastern PA partners with agencies across the Commonwealth of PA to serve those most in need during disaster. We anticipate a number of needs arising that local churches can play a role in meeting. One opportunity that has just become available is through our partner disaster organization, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR). SBDR is taking the lead in helping to meet gaps related to COVID-19 and hunger. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has asked Southern Baptist Disaster Relief to fill the gaps in crucial wraparound services for senior citizens and others in need at this time. These services include grocery and prescription delivery, food preparation, and chaplaincy services. Your church can become involved in the front lines of this effort.

If you are interested in being kept up to date with opportunities related to this effort,
