2019 | November Edition

Official Publication of the Travel and Tourism Research Association
Hello TTRA Members and Friends,

The month of November is a quiet month for the TTRA Board, Committees, and Staff as we wind down from the Marketing Outlook Forum. The turn of the calendar to December brings with it a flurry of activity with three important announcements.

Registration for our 51st International Conference opens on December 1, 2019, with a two-week Happy Birthday TTRA! super early bird conference rate.  It's a mouthful to say, but many attendees will save $50-off our lowest full conference rates if they register for the International Conference on or before December 15th.

TTRA is launching it's Refer a Friend to TTRA Challenge in December. Current members in good standing who refer a new member during December or January will be recognized as TTRA Ambassadors and will be entered into a drawing for a complimentary conference registration.  Referred members will also save on their inaugural TTRA membership.

The 2020 Travel and Marketing Outlook is now available for purchase. The 2020 Outlook includes a summary report (NEW), a compilation of presentations from the Marketing Outlook Forum PLUS a selection of Tourism Industry White Papers.  It is available for sale via the TTRA Online Store

You can find more information about these (and other announcements) below.

Warm Wishes,
Patricia Thacker
Associate Executive Director, TTRA

It’s a Good Problem To Have or Is It? Challenges in Tourism – Shaping the Future with AI. December 4 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm EST | Online Webinar

It’s a good problem to have or is it? Globalization’s effect on local economies and destinations – more competition, more visitors, more infrastructure, and more decisions. You need to act fast and plan ahead to keep up. Society and more specifically travelers want things fast – fast customer support, fast check-in, fast immigration at airports, fast checkout in hotels, fast public transportation, and fast information at airports. How do we keep up? How do we make strategic decisions based on data in real time?

The 2020 International Conference will be held June 16 to 18, 2020 at the Victoria Conference Centre in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Over the course of the conference, we will develop a 20/20 perfect vision of the future tourism research agenda – looking forward at major tourism research needs and looking back at 50 years of accomplishments in the promoting the use of research in travel marketing and planning. Our conference will look at the new models and paradigms for economics and tourism and the research needed to empower tourism decision-makers. Do not miss out on this opportunity to contribute to a global association and international conference that has been bringing together researchers from agencies, destinations, the industry, and academia since its inception in 1970.

The conference theme is 20/20 Vision: Looking Forward, Looking Back and will focus on taking stock of the notable achievements of the past and discussing the issues critical to the future of travel research.

Registration opens December 1st, 2019.
