Message from our President
Happy New Year Friends of CARA!!!

We hope the year is getting off to a great start. Last year has been trying for all of us. Thanks to your support CARA is staying strong. We are looking forward to seeing you out and about in the months to come!

This year past more than ever we had special needs animals at the shelter. Everything from skin cancers, dental issues, jaw surgeries, 2 heart worm cases and 2 litters of puppies. Even though we have had great support with our Facebook Friends, Our Holly's Fund has been put through a ringer this year. I need to thank our volunteers and staff for all the hard work in special care given to our four legged patients.

Some of you may not be aware of our CARA Amazon Wish List. On there we have staple items we need and unique items most people would not think about us needing. We keep this up to date so you know your assistance matters. If you shop Amazon and you have not joined Amazon Smile, do so now at no cost to you! Amazon donates a portion of their profits to us each time you shop. Go to www.amazonsmile.com and search for Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption to make a difference.

You can find our Amazon Wish List here:

Last year, we started a GoFundMe for an industrial washer and dryer set and other repairs to the shelter. We have been using household machines which are not desired for all the abuse from 4-6 loads of laundry a day. We have at least 2-3 issues a month that delay our workers from doing their jobs and constantly need to replace them when they break down completely. An industrial set is very costly, but they will do the job much faster because of the large capacity and hold up much better. Our building was built in the 80’s and very little money was put into the building since our animals were top priority so our To Do List is HUGE! We had a furnace breakdown and our CARA family stepped up to help. If you would like to help or share our GoFundMe page, click on the link below.

Thank you for your support,
 Steve Frederick

Happy New Year from Pandora!

Our sweet 3 year old pittie mix hopes 2021 will be her year! She hopes a new year will bring her good fortune and a forever family! Through no fault of her own, our Pandora has gotten very little interest or potential adopters have decided to go with another dog. She has endless love and loyalty to give to a family. She will always be happy to see her humans come home. Once she knows her family is home, she'll be ready to go outside to play or go on a walk then settle down on the couch for some snuggle time. Pandora does prefer to choose her own doggie friends and would appreciate a proper introduction to potential four-legged friends. As Pandora continues to be a long time resident of CARA, she continues to practice her basic training, such as sit and walking on a leash properly. Pandora has requested that our supporters help her find her forever home!

Fill out an application today for Pandora, who is patiently for a forever home. If you want to know more information about Pandora and her friends, call 919-774-9433 or email sheltermanager@cara-nc.org.
Sponsor of the Month:
Divine Finds
Divine Finds Thrift Store has been a huge sponsor of CARA from day one! Cathy and the gang at the store have always had big hearts for rescued dogs & cats but they do so much more for our community! They also let Haven and Mission Outreach for Foster kids from Social Services come to get cloths for free!

So you need to know not only do you get great deals on your purchase there that all of your donations have a positive impact on animals and people of all ages. So when you come across gently used items that you no longer need when you are cleaning out the garage, redecorating the house, organizing the closet or going through cloths remember Divine Finds is there to help our community!

Sponsorship Opportunities
Sponsoring a CARA dog and/or cat is another option to support CARA since our fundraisers have either been canceled or moved to be virtual. We are featuring certain CARA animals that need sponsors to help cover their care while they are with us. We are asking for $100 total per animal. This covers the animal's spay/neuter and feeding them.

Call CARA at 919-774-9433 to inquire about Sponsorship opportunities! Many of our kittens are coming of age and will need to spayed/neutered before they go home. This is another way to help CARA and the animals we care for until they find their forever homes!
We are in need of items for our Cat Room! We need to replace some things we currently have in the cat room. Look below for the WishList in the right column for items we need in the cat room.
Make sure to use Amazon Smile when ordering! You can find all the items above on our Wishlist. Click on the AmazonSmile picture and it will redirect you to our wishlist. In the URL make sure the site address says: smile.amazon.com.
We are looking forward to the day we can open our doors to the you without health safety measures and having events with our CARA. We miss seeing you and wish you and your family the very best during these difficult times.
