Last in the Series, September 14, 2018:
Artist Janet Rogers discusses Eyescapes
MoArt DeLand Downtown Gallery:  100 N Woodland Blvd
Artist Janet Siegel Rogers will present a gallery talk and tour about her work in the Museum's exhibition, Eyescapes.  Continuing with the teaching of Josef Albers and the Bauhaus' creed "less is more", Rogers seeks color interaction using a limited palette.  Light affects our perception of color in all painting, but in Roger's luminous, glowing paintings the light is active from within the painter layers, energizing her glorious colors with an ever-changing liveliness.  The process, using beeswax mixed in oil, holds the impression of her brushstroke and allows her to weave over the surface of her layered colors a rhythm movement and tapestry of texture.
