IRS Mileage Rate for 2019

The IRS announced Dec. 14 in Notice 2019-02 that, for 2019, standard mileage rates for the use of cars (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be: 58 cents per mile driven for business use, up from 54.5 cents in 2018.

 
 
 
 
 
Urban Ministry Gathering

February 14

March 16

Doors open at 6:15 PM, but no earlier. Dinner buffet – 7:00 to 8:00 PM (Tables will be held for families that work late.) Square Dance, Classic and Modern Country Music by “The Majestics,” with line dance music between sets: 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Theme: Sports. Feel free to support your favorite team by wearing their colors! Hamburg Field House, Hamburg, PA - Exit #30 off I-78.

Upcoming Events

January 26, 2019. Learning Ministries Day. 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. The keynote speaker is Elsayed “Steve” Elmarzouky, spokesperson for the Reading Muslim Community. He speaks about his personal journey of faith as a practicing Muslim in Egypt and the U.S. and how his understanding of Islam reflects principles familiar to all people of faith. Workshops will be offered in the morning and afternoon. Participants can choose to learn about new resources, learn a skill, or choose a workshop for their own personal growth. Institute for Jewish-Christian Understanding
First Friday Program

January 4

The Institute for Jewish-Christian Understanding will host a First Friday luncheon program on January 4 @ 12:00-1:00pm. Dr. Nichola Gutgold, Penn State University, will present: “Speak Your Truth.” Seegers Union, Rooms 111 & 112, Muhlenberg College. Free and open to the public. Bring your lunch or buy lunch at Seegers Union. Be sure to leave ample time to locate on-street parking as this program begins promptly at Noon.

 Leilani, the five-month old daughter of Becky Blitch and Eliot Rodriquez, granddaughter of David (Salem Belleman’s, Mohrsville; revblitch@msn.com) and Karen Blitch has been re-diagnosed with rhabdoid tumor and continues with chemotherapy to shrink the tumor.

 Dennis Carroll (retired; drdc820@yahoo.com) is in hospice care at home.


 Nancy Ebling, widow of Byard Ebling, is receiving comfort care at the Mifflin Center in Shillington.

 Sandy Fairchild, wife of Chip Fairchild (retired; chipfair@ptd.net) is at home recovering from back surgery.

 Walton Horn (retired; w3okx.wrh@comcast.net ) is recuperating after a serious illness.

 John Kuschel (St. Peter [10th], Allentown) is in rehab at the Lehigh Center, 1718 Spring Creek Rd, Macungie; and his wife, Lois, is in LVH-Cedar Crest.

Allegheny, Mohnton is searching for a dynamic, experienced, professional Director of Youth Ministry (approximately 15 hours per week). Key areas of focus for this position include discipleship, biblical teaching, outreach evangelism, coordinating and communicating with volunteers, and mentoring youth to love and serve the Lord! The Director of Youth Ministry will lead Confirmation, coordinate activities for youth from grade 7 through early adulthood, and actively participate in mission trip planning.
