I am Independence Amplified Maryland Presented by Maryland Centers for Independent Living
Have you wondered the best course of action to take if you feel you were discriminated against because of your disability? Are you supporting someone who needs advice on what to do if they have experienced disability discrimination?

This week's Independence Amplified Maryland will feature Maureen van Stone, director of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities and Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law) at the Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Maureen will speak about all the different places you can go to resolve disability discrimination. She will also talk about safeguarding against disability discrimination during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The live streams happen every Monday at 2pm via Zoom and can be viewed later on YouTube. Check out past episodes by clicking here.

What do you want or need out of life? Help us inform the Maryland State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL!) The purpose of the SPIL is to describe how the state’s network of Independent Living programs and services will meet the needs of person with disabilities in the state. The plan must address how federal, state, and other funds will be used within the state to develop and maintain an Independent Living program. Please assist us in this process and make your voice heard. Join us at one or more of our public hearing sites to review and comment on the SPIL.

For more meeting details and to request reasonable accommodations, call or email Denise Thomas, MSILC Executive Director at 240-599-7965, .
