Save the Date: Fall Theological Conference
The annual Southeastern Iowa Synod Fall Theological Conference for rostered ministers and congregational program staff will be held September 23-25, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa. We will gather around the theme “Leadership and Innovation” with Dr. Bill Withers from Wartburg College, Waverly; the Rev. Michael Hurst from Des Moines; and the Rev. Louise Johnson from Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque. Registration information will be available in early July.

ELCA presiding bishop, faith leaders issue statement on family separation
Presiding Bishop, Elizabeth A. Eaton, has convened ELCA ecumenical and inter-religious partners in a statement addressing concerns over a recent U.S. government policy calling for more stringent enforcement of federal immigration laws. The policy will most likely result in an increase in family separations.

The 2017 Synod Assembly passed a resolution on the first 1,000 days initiative. You're invited to an event from the nation’s leading experts on the importance of childhood nutrition & factors that affect children’s brain development! Hosted by the NE-IA Kiwanis District at the Airport Holiday Inn & Convention Center (6111 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, IA), Saturday, August 11, you will have the opportunity to attend one or both presentations by esteemed speakers Roger Thurow and Wil Blechman, M.D. A unique & interactive experience, you will also have the option to attend small breakout sessions facilitated by Roger Thurow & Wil Blechman, M.D.  See more
 
 
 
 
 
Lutheran Student Center (UNI) Jr. High Lock-in

Join others at the Middle School Lock-In (open to students in your middle school ministry and the grades you consider to be middle school) is sponsored by the partnership of the Lutheran Student Center at UNI in Cedar Falls and the Northeastern Iowa Synod (ELCA) on October 12-13. This year there will be a focus on the ELCA World Hunger – Global Farm Challenge.

Continuing Education: Bridgebuilder Training
This training is for leaders to work with congregations that are stuck or in conflict. Based on systems theory it is designed to help congregations to move forward in their ministry. The training is scheduled at Luther Seminary August 27-29.  For more information visit www.luthersem.edu/Kairos.
