Making the Omer Count:  Tunes for Teens: an all ages musical coffeehouse to benefit Covenant House

6 May 2017 @ 6:00pm

Join us for a night of music, community, great coffee, and homemade snacks as we gather to help alleviate one of the worst of social injustices, child homelessness.

Covenant House offers an immediate safe harbor to youth (ages 18-21) who are homeless where staff strive to move each young person forward down the path to an independent adulthood, free from the risk of future homelessness by providing comprehensive services including education, job skills and more.

Proceeds will go to support Covenant House, an organization helping to save children from abuse and neglect.
We’ll be featuring some of the coolest artists around, many of whom happen to be our own temple members!

Our event will begin with a short, musical Havdallah service, let by our guitar-wielding rabbi, as we bid Shabbat farewell and welcome in the new week together.

$5 admission and donations accepted: Pizza $1/slice: baked yummies available for sale and complimentary coffee, etc.

Temple Beth Miriam to host first-ever "Days of Awe Art Exhibit"

Temple Beth Miriam’s Hineinu Initiative will host its first community-wide art exhibit. The juried-selected will be thematically consistent with the fall holiday period and will open just prior to Selichot and close by early November after Simchat Torah.
.
“The artwork media to be displayed will include painting, drawing, pastel and photography. The show will provide an opportunity for TBM members as well as the art community to share and sell their works. as well as creating a enriched environment at the Temple, ” said event chair Renee Freedman.
.
Beth Miriam President Harry Silverman added that “this ambitious undertaking will be an enhancement of our Temple’s commitment to be warm and welcoming for its members, visitors and potential new members. It’s wonderful to have a new member step forward to lead this initiative!” He joined Renee’s call for interested volunteers to contact Renee with their interest in serving on one of the Days of Awe Exhibit’s committees. These committees will include Temple members and Arts community members.
.
A wine and hors d’oeuvres reception to open the show will take place in early September and the $18 entrance fee for the opening night also covers the artists’ submission fee for up to 6 pieces to be juried.
 .
Please e-mail Renee if you are interested in showing your artwork and/or volunteering at tillyhugo6@gmail.com
