Synod Survey for 2020 Bishop Election-Last Chance
The survey closes Friday, August 9th
In 2020 the Southeastern Iowa Synod will elect a new bishop. The Synod Ministry Profile Committee, appointed by the Synod Council, is conducting a survey to better understand the ministry setting of this synod. The results of this survey will be used in the formation of the synod’s ministry site profile which will be made available to everyone in the synod. This profile will be used in the call process and the election of a new bishop at the 2020 Synod Assembly. There are several resources available to share this survey with your congregation.

Churchwide Assembly 
The ELCA Churchwide Assembly, the primary decision-making body of the church, is a process of communal spiritual discernment. The fifteenth assembly will meet in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 5-10, 2019 under the theme “We are church.” 

Over the course of the assembly, voting members: 
Hear reports and review the work of churchwide officers, leaders, and units, participate in plenaries, discussions, Bible studies, and worship while deliberating the work of the church.

The Southeastern Iowa Synod Center for ministry will be open to all with coffee available for anyone who wishes to watch the live stream of the Churchwide Assembly during its plenary sessions that take place during office hours Monday-Friday. 2019 Tri-Synodical Fall Conference
The Tri-Synodical Fall Conference will be held in West Des Moines, September 22-24, 2019. Deacons Jeremy Myers from Augsburg University and Chelle Huth from United Seminary will serve as keynote speakers under the theme Faith Formation as Shared Mission.

What does it mean to structure a congregation around equipping the saints for ministry in daily life? Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, has done it. An immersion will provide insight into the rationale for focusing on equipping the saints for ministry in daily life, the challenges that can be expected, and the congregational revitalization that will emerge.
