DEAR MUSICAL FRIENDS,

It has been great to tour with the Sirkis/Bialas IQ this Spring!
We`ve been exploring new music from myself and from Sylwia Bialas and we`re going to be recording it for a new album this summer in London. Many thanks to all the music lovers and supporters who came to the gigs and left some great feedback (see below).

Special thanks to Arts Council Of England for their support, making it possible for us to explore and experiment new musical avenues!

FEEDBACK FROM THE AUDIENCES:

It was an exciting experience to directly ask the audiences how do they perceive our new music. We were very happy to discover how positive was the impact that our performances made on listeners. Here are a few Quotes from the nearly 200 feedback cards we have collected during the tour:

SIRKIS/BIALAS IQ &  SIRKIS/BIALAS Duet-
  upcoming recordings:

The Quartet`s new album will be recorded on the end of July at Master Chord Studio in London.

The new compositions will feature the sounds of church organ, percussion instruments such as Crotales & Waterphone (see below) as well as some ethnic vocal elements: Konnakol
(South - Indian vocal percussion) and Kulning (Scandinavian herding calls).

Sirkis/Bialas Duet recording is planed later on this year. Drums, voice and some percussion instruments will be featured in this unusual duet project. It`s going to be a mostly free improvised album inspired by a spontaneous performance that Asaf and Sylwia gave at Leeds College of Music earlier this year after their workshop "Breathing Rhythms":

A FAREWELL...

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of two of my musical heroes, Larry Coryell and Alan Holdsworth...

LARRY CORYELL 1943-2017

Larry was someone I had the honor and privilege to play with in different formations since 2005.
Below a link to a tribute-interview I did with Sebastian Scotney from London Jazz News about my experiences with Larry:

ALAN HOLDSWORTH 1946-2017

I didn`t know Allan very well and only met him briefly on a few occasions but he was someone that has shaped my musical direction from an early age. Here is a tribute that drummer/keyboardist Gary Husband - one of his closest and long standing collaborators - wrote about him:
