TC Poland 30 Year Cake Cutting Video

Cathy and I have returned from the Europe Teen Challenge in Wieliczka, near Kraków, Poland. We were blessed by the vision, commitment, and determination of these amazing leaders from 31 nations. In some of these nations, TC leaders battle not only addiction but overt political persecution, religious extremism and poverty as well. In Europe, many face the menace of creeping apathy, subversive humanism and the relentless drift of a society moving into a post-Christian mindset. As we had fellowship, shared meals and prayed together, we saw exciting strategies emerging to bring the
good news of the gospel not only to addicts, but to an aimless culture, desperately in need of hope.

For example, last year, Germany (pop. 82 million) took in 1.2 million refugees. Two years ago, it was not possible to send missionaries to Syria. Although terrorism, violence and tragedy have effectively depopulated Syria by half, a miracle is taking place. As its people move them to Western Europe, these immigrants are hearing the Good News as they join and pioneer churches among their own people in host nations. Christians throughout Europe are welcoming these mostly Muslim immigrants and meeting their physical and spiritual needs. Lebanon, with population of 5 million, has taken in over 1.5 million refugees, and is now a base of outreach as thousands of copies of the Arabic translation of The Cross and the Switchblade (in its third printing) flow from Beirut across the Middle East and now Europe.

The church is the place where cultural integration is happening. Every week thousands are finding Christ and are being baptized. Teen Challenge is reaching addicts, the church is touching the lost with the Good News, as you pray.
Teen Challenge has programs in 37 countries with over 2,000 full-time workers and volunteers. In our last Entercession, I said, in error, that there was no TC work in Albania or Montenegro, but both countries are moving forward. Please pray with us for these ministries.

With over 260 participants from 31 nations across Europe -- God was at work, healing wounds, refreshing vision, releasing promise. You may have heard of "TED Talks."  They have nothing on "TC Talks." These pointed talks were shared from a practical perspective by TC leaders. Topics from "How to Fail-Proof Graduates" and "Building Staff," to "Living Free" were a treasure of insights.
Bern 1 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.

3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

In 2016, we returned home from Japan to an amazing blessing. Over 50 precious servants from Calvary Assembly of God, Hampton, descended on our home (Casa Gigliotti) for an EXTREME Makeover -- painting, cleaning, repairing, landscaping and fixing our patio. What a blessing! We had no idea that in the process, they would need to replace the beams of our damaged foundation. As they painted the facade, Steve noticed the wood was loose, so he began to pull the white side boards from our office/studio, He found decaying, damaged wood.

Rather than just cover up and paint, he tackled the difficult job of replacing the rotted timbers to make it strong again. We had seen the cracks in the plaster (not unusual in a 100 year old house) but they could not be fixed with a bit of plaster and paint, because the real problem was deep below the surface.

Sin and unforgiveness, like the rot that ate away the timbers of our home, will destroy a life. Sometimes we can see the cracks in the wall. Time after time, efforts to "improve" our lives fail. Good intentions and human effort are not enough to change a life if there is "rot" behind the facade..

After David fell with Bathsheba, there were lots of excuses to be made. When Nathan confronted him with his sin and accused him of "murdering" Uriah, there were many excuses available “ I didn’t kill Uriah, it was an enemy on the wall —No one can  prove anything.”

To avoid the inevitable destruction of the foundations of our lives, we start with a prayer of repentance and humility. Many “ask Jesus in their hearts” but miss the most important thing —the  prayer of repentance, the confession of sin and declaration of his Lordship. It not about me accepting Jesus. It is about Him accepting me!

One thing I have learned in 46 years of ministry is that not every prayer we pray gets answered at the time we think it should or in the way we think it is supposed to happen. But the prayer of repentance —the broken heart that cries out, “God I’ve failed and I need you, I cannot do it on my own,” always gets God’s immediate attention. If you want intimacy with God, let your heart break with the things that break His heart.

I am usually without excuse, but not without explanation. Repentance does not come with explanations of our past or excuses for what happened… “After all Lord,  if Bathsheba had not been bathing on that rooftop I would not have been tempted- I mean, I’m just a man —give me a break!. And I didn’t kill  Uriah like Nathan claims  ...if he had just gone home and slept with his wife I wouldn't have had to send him  to the front of the battle." On and on we go, as the foundation fails veneered with white-wash & excuses.

David says " I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah." Until we have the courage to take those three steps, there is no way to escape the hidden guilt that lurks behind our painted fascia.

A TC  student complained, “Brother Bernie, it’s not fair. Seems like everybody else gets away with stuff, but every  time I mess up, I get caught. It is just not fair.”

I shared, “That’s not unfair, it is the mercy of God. Getting caught is His grace meeting my foolishness through His truth with the  promise of change.” Thank God for the conviction of the Holy Spirit that weighs on our heart with the cry of God‘s love. I cannot afford to just nail up another piece of white washed wood. I need him to forgive, take the guilt away, and put in the new foundation of His love.

Are you building your life on the rotting wood of failure, excuses, and cover ups or the solid rock of His  love. It’s important to have friends like Steve that can go deep, peel away my painted clapboard and reveal the rot so that God can create a new heart in me.--Selah, that is Hebrew for "You know dat's right! "

Long Island & Brooklyn Teen Challenge
What at an amazing time in New York City with Jimmy Jack, Long Island Teen Challenge and all of the family of TC New York. It is always a special blessing to visit, but we were truly honored by Pastor Jimmy & Miriam when Teen Challenge presented Cathy and me with Michael Kors gold watches, celebrating our 40 years of ministry at Teen Challenge across the USA and around the world.
This honor is shared by all of you who have stood with us and prayed for us for so many years! The glory belongs to Himm

Celebrating TC Poland's 30 year anniversary with a "BIG BIG" cake, TC director Zbigniew, a Polish long sword and flaming sparklers. What could possibly go wrong?

My first experience with the Polish team was in 1986 as Public Service Manager of the Teen Challenge Training Center. I met Michael Hjdzdik and Miroslav Melskiki of Slupsk. I gave them a tour of the center. They told us that they had read The Cross and the Switchblade. They said, "The government leaders have heard of the success of Teen Challenge through the book, The Jesus Factor." They wondered, as long as we did not get into politics or government, could they use this "Jesus Factor" to help addicts in their country. We prayed what seemed an impossible prayer at that time ...

HOLY SPIRIT lead these men to pioneer the reproduction of the Christ-centered TC discipleship model in a communist nation.

To see how God answered that prayer is nothing short of miraculous.

What an honor to return to Poland in 2004 with Brother Wilkerson and see the miracles. We returned again in 2012 to minister and make a 25 year Anniversary VIDEO for them. This newsletter tells some of the exciting history of Poland Teen Challenge or click for the powerful 25 year anniversary video.

2017 was a year of miracles. You could not join us in the Syrian Refugee Camps, the South Sudanese camps, Rwanda, Madagascar (over 40,000 first-time confessions of Christ), hurricane relief or missions on 5 continents, BUT you were with us in prayer, partnership & giving.

Sometimes we face daunting challenges like this $24,000 American Express bill which came this week, containing ground fees, transportation, and Africa flights for Cathy and I, as well as expenses for 12 leaders for the Mission SOS Festival in Malawi. We turn our hearts to heaven, knowing that God is going to provide as you pray with us, especially as we prepare to return to Rwanda with a team of almost 50 in July. Our God is FAITHFUL!
Thank you for praying.
Thank you for giving.

Again I say
unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done
for them of
my Father which is in heaven.

1) Pray for Guatemala

A sudden violent and deadly eruption of the Fuego Volcano has left over 70 dead with many still missing, and feared buried in the pyroclastic flow that roared into El Rodeo and Alotenago at a speed of 700 kilometers per hour.

Please pray for the families of those who lost their lives, as well as the TC staff, students and families as they labor under a cloud of ash and dust. TC Guatemala is just 50 miles northeast of the Fuego eruption. Pray for the staff and students as they minister.

2) Pray for Nancy Honeytree Miller and her family

We were deeply saddened to learn that J.R. Miller has gone home to be with the Lord. We do not mourn his death, but we celebrate his life.

J.R. was the husband of one of "Jesus Music‘s" great pioneers, Nancy Honeytree Miller, “the first lady of gospel music,“ and a dear friend. She holds the distinction as the only contemporary gospel artist that ever had the courage to actually ride with us on tour in the Teen Challenge choir bus. Both she and J.R. have been an incredible blessing to the ministry of Teen Challenge and personally to Cathy and I.

J.R., Nancy's husband of 25+ years, had been in the hospital recovering from heart problems. He was determined to go on vacation to their family town of Sylva. They enjoyed beautiful days together. Please pray for this amazing family, For Nancy, their son Will and his sweet wife and children. Nancy is one of the sweetest generals and musical angels it has been our honor to know in over 40 years of Teen Challenge ministry. May God comfort her heart with the assurance that her mighty man of God is home and at rest in the presence of Jesus. May she find great comfort in the promise that he has gone on to his eternal reward. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

3) PRAYER Madagascar

In follow-up to the Antananarivo, Madagascar MISSION SOS Festival and Pastor's Awareness in 2017, Dr Nomdoe reports that Teen Challenge Madagascar has now been launched and the steering committee is moving forward. Thank you for your prayers.

We are inviting our E-ntercession team to join our Malawi team and MISSION SOS in prayer and fasting for the Good News Festival, as the Lord leads. We are praying for some specific breakthroughs and against the powers of darkness trying to hinder what God has called us to accomplish in Malawi.

Agree with us on these points, and please reply with anything the Lord speaks to your heart as we prepare to engage dark spiritual forces on the battlefield.

  • Pray for the sound system as it is in transit from Tanzania.
  • Pray for Evangelist Johannes Amritzer and all of the 180 missionaries who are part of this outreach.

A spirit of unity within our diverse team of 180 missionaries from Europe, Africa and the US. Psalm 133:1 & Colossians 3:14

For Malawian pastors & churches who partner with SOS for the Lilongwe Festival. Ecclesiastes 4:9

An attitude of excellence in our ministry preparation. Daniel 6:3 & 2 Corinthians 8:7

For God to prepare & purify the festival grounds.
It is a place known for drinking, parties & drug use. Deuteronomy 11:24a

Financial breakthrough & 100% funding for each of our team members. Psalm 144:13

This is a moment to exercise your spiritual authority, engage in the spiritual warfare that is waging around the plans for this festival. We must pray for a Shock and Awe outpouring on the powers of darkness as we prepare to head to Malawi on June 14.

  • • He that is in us, is greater than He that is in the world. 1 John 4:4
    • You Lord will cause the enemy, who has raised up against this festival in Lilongwe, to be defeated before us. He will come in against us one direction, but flee before us in seven directions, in the name of Jesus! Deuteronomy 28:7
    • What the enemy has meant for evil, Lord, you will turn around for good in Lilongwe; for the saving of many lives, as they receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Genesis 50: 20
    • That by our hand, Lord, the unreached people of Malawi will be delivered out of the hand of the enemy and wicked, unreasonable men. 2 Thessalonians 3:2

  • Pray for the Malawi Festival Committee
    Rev. Dr. Edward Chitsonga -Chairman
    Rev. Grey Mwalabu Vice-Chairman
    Rev. Timothy Zimba Secretary

5) PRAYER for N. Korea, Kim Jong-Un Summt

Please continue to pray for the historic Summit between Presidents Trump and Kim Jong Un! Read about it in Charisma or in the Christian Post News. You can sign here to add your name to the call to prayer. Anyone can sign this. Please sign--especially if you head a ministry. The lists of all who have signed is here.

Pray with us for the global advance of the gospel. Pray for workers for the Harvest ...Teen Challenge Centers in 120 countries need staff and we currently have invitations to start Teen Challenge in over 32 new nations. They are crying out for help. They need the power of God to meet a pressing social need... but we know it has a SPIRITUAL ROOT. We offer SPIRITUAL RESOURCES to meet PRACTICAL needs.
MATTHEW 9: 37 Then He said to His disciples,
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
38 Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send
out workers into His harvest.”
