Welcome to this week's E-lijah
Elijah for August 9, 2019

The concept of Family Affair started several years ago with an inspiration by Judy Benn.  She formed a committee and had several dedicated members to help carry it to fruition.

What is Family Affair?  It is the concept of meaningful engagement with members of our temple community, whether it be for a crisis, a joyous occasion, or lending a helping hand.

A Family Affair committee has been formed, chaired by Lori Goldstein.  The committee hopes to serve the temple community in various ways, such as sending apples and honey to college students for Rosh Hashana, having volunteer drivers for High Holiday services, reaching out to congregants in mourning, etc.

If any congregant is need of a ride or wants to volunteer to drive during the High Holiday services please let the office know at 732-222-3754.

It is the hope of the committee to keep Judy’s vision alive.

Days of Awe Yiskor Book

It may be the middle of the summer but we are hard at work getting ready for the upcoming Days of Awe.  You will see periodic announcements on the temple website and in Elijah.

The first announcement has to do with the Yiskor book which we use on Yom Kippur afternoon.  Go to this link: https://templebethmiriam.org/2019-yiskor-booklet/ and take a look at your entries.  If there are any changes or corrections, please be sure to let Rabbi Stanway know as soon as possible so he can make the booklet as precise as possible.  Please do so by August 15th.
